National Space Day 2024 - Workshop/ Demonstration on 14th and 16th August, 2024 at Malpe and Mangalore fishing harbour

To commemorate the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3 Mission, and soft landing of the Vikram Lander and deployment of the Pragyaan Rover on the Moon on 23rd August, 2023, the Government of India has declared 23rd Day of August of every year as the National Space Day (NSpD). With this achievement, India has joined the elite group of Space fairing nations becoming only the fourth to land on the surface of the Moon, and the first nation to land near the south pole of the Moon.
To mark this special day in the history of the Indian Space Program, the Department of Space is organizing nation-wide celebrations during August, 2024 to engage and inspire the youth of the Nation towards space science and its applications with the theme “Touching lives while touching the Moon: India's Space Saga”.
On this occasion, the Government of Karnataka in co-ordination with Central Institute of Coastal Engineering for Fishery, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India has planned to conduct Workshop/ Demonstration at Malpe fishing harbour on 14th August, 2024 and at Mangalore fishing harbour on 16th August, 2024. The Space Application Centre, Ahmedabad will provide assistance for the proposed activities related to Vessel Communication and Support System, OceanSAT, NavIC, PFZ etc.
The Workshop/ Demonstration will provide a rare opportunity to stakeholders, like students from fisheries University, sea-going fishermen, boat owners, State Fishery Department Officials, Sagar Mitras, Fisheries Cooperative Societies etc., to visit exhibits and understand on vessel communication and support system.
