The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Mumbai kicked off its three-day orientation program for the new academic batch of 2024 on 31^st July, 2024. The event, running from July 31st to August 2nd, is designed to immerse incoming students in the campus life at NIFT and prepare them for their journey into the fashion world. Director of NIFT Mumbai Prof. Dr. Sharmila Dua, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp, marking the beginning of the orientation session.

“We believe that it is you who make us what we are, and we look forward to the fresh ideas and energy you will bring to our campus,” Prof. Dr. Sharmila Dua welcomed the new students with inspiring words, urging them to take full advantage of NIFT's world-class facilities and vibrant creative environment. She encouraged students to embrace this opportunity for growth and creativity, highlighting the institution’s commitment to fostering an environment that balances academic rigor with environmental sustainability.

Senior Police Inspector, Kharghar, Ms. Vaishali Galande, delivered an insightful address on cybersecurity. Ms. Galande emphasized the importance of staying informed and proactive in safeguarding against cyber fraud and other digital threats. Her guidance aimed to equip students and staff with essential knowledge to navigate the digital landscape safely and responsibly.

The orientation program included presentations by faculty heads covering key aspects of NIFT’s academic structure, attendance policies, placement opportunities; craft cluster initiatives, student development activities, and international connections. This comprehensive overview aimed to provide students with a solid understanding of what to expect during their time at NIFT.

The day concluded with an engaging ice-breaking session, where students had the chance to connect with their peers through team-building activities and games. NIFT Mumbai’s orientation program is a crucial step in ensuring that new students are well-prepared and excited about their academic and creative journey. The upcoming days will continue to offer a range of activities designed to further acclimate students to the campus and the dynamic world of fashion.
