Railway Board has approved the Introduction of a new Bi-Weekly Express between Tuticorin and Mettupalayam, Extension of services of three MEMU trains running between Coimbatore and Mettupalayam to Podanur, Stoppage at Samalpatti for Coimbatore – Tirupati Express, Extension of services of Mysuru – Mayiladuthurai Express to Cuddalore Port, and also approved Increase in frequency of Mayiladuthurai – Trichy Express from 5 days a week to Daily.

Dr L.Murugan, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, will be flagging off the introduction, Extension and stoppage of these trains at a function to be held at Mettupalayam on 19th July 2024, in the presence of Shri A.Raja, Hon’ble MP, Shri A.K.Selvaraj, Hon’ble MLA, and Smt A. Mahariba Parvin, Municipal Chairperson, Mettupalayam and other invitees.

Dr L.Murugan will flag off the Inaugural run of Mettupalayam – Tuticorin Bi-Weekly Express on 19th July 2024 from Mettupalayam.

1)    Introduction of Train No.16766/16765 Tuticorin – Mettupalayam – Tuticorin Bi-Weekly Express

The regular service of Train No.16766 /16765 Tuticorin – Mettupalayam – Tuticorin Bi Weekly Express will be from 20th July 2024. i.e., With a composition of One AC 2-Tier Coach, Two AC 3-Tier Coaches, Nine Sleeper Class Coaches, Four General Second Class Coaches, and Two Luggage Cum Brake Vans, Train No.16766 Tuticorin – Mettupalayam Bi-Weekly Express will leave Tuticorin at 22.50 hrs on Thursdays and Saturdays and reach Mettupalayam at 07.40 hrs on Fridays and Sundays. In the return direction, Train No.16765 Mettupalayam – Tuticorin Bi-Weekly Express will leave Mettupalayam at 19.35 hrs on Fridays and Sundays and reach Tuticorin at 04.20 hrs on Saturdays and Mondays. The trains will stop at Coimbatore, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi, Udumalaipet, Palani, Oddanchatram, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudunagar, Sattur and Kovilpatti in both the directions. The detailed timings and stoppages are given below:-

2)    Extension of Trains upto Podanur Jn

The services of the following trains will be extended to Podanur Jn

 Train No.06009 / 06812 Mettupalayam – Coimbatore MEMU Daily

 Train No.06815 / 06816 Mettupalayam – Coimbatore MEMU Daily

Train No.06822 / 06823 Coimbatore – Mettupalayam MEMU (Except Sunday)

The inaugural service of the extended run will be flagged off by Dr L.Murugan, Hon’ble Union Minister of State from Mettupalayam at 10.55 hrs on 19th July 2024.

The regular extended services of Train No. Train No.06009 / 06812 Mettupalayam – Coimbatore MEMU Daily, Train No.06815 / 06816 Mettupalayam – Coimbatore MEMU Daily, and Train No.06822 / 06823 Coimbatore – Mettupalayam MEMU to PODANUR Jn will be from 20th July 2024. The detailed timings and stoppages are given below:-

3)    Stoppage for Coimbatore – Tirupati - Coimbatore Express at Samalpatti 

Train No.22615/22616 Tirupati – Coimbatore – Tirupati Express has been provided a stoppage at Samalpatti Railway Station from 22nd July 2024 onwards. The Stoppage will be inaugurated by Dr L.Murugan through video conferencing from Mettupalayam on 19th July 2024. The detailed timings of the stoppage is given below:-

4)    Extension of Mysuru – Mayiladuthurai Express to Cuddalore Port 

The Services of Train Nos 16231 / 16232 Mayiladuthurai – Mysuru – Mayiladuthurai Express will be extended to Cuddalore Port. The inaugural Service of this train on the extended portion will be remotely flagged off by Dr L.Murugan, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs through Video Conferencing from Mettupalayam at 10.55 hrs on 19th July 2024. The inaugural Special will run from Mayiladuthurai to Cuddalore.

The regular service of extended Train Nos. 16231 / 16232 Cuddalore port – Mysuru – Cuddalore Port will be from 19th July 2024 from both ends. The stoppages and timings of the train over the extended portion is detailed below:-

5)    Increase in frequency of Mayiladuthurai – Trichy – Mayiladuthurai Express from 5 days a week to Daily

The Services of Train Nos 16233 / 16234 Mayiladuthurai – Tiruchirappalli – Mayiladuthurai are renumbered as Train Nos. 16833 /16834 and frequency of the services increased from 5 days a week to Daily on and from 20th July 2024.
