Shri. Pankaj Kumar Bansal, IAS, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, visited the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM) in Pune on 23 May 2024,. VAMNICOM, operating under the aegis of the National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT) and promoted by the Ministry of Cooperation, is the premier institute responsible for the training and development of personnel in India's cooperative sector.
Dr. Hema Yadav, Director of VAMNICOM, welcomed Shri. Pankaj Kumar Bansal, IAS. The Director, along with all faculty members, provided a comprehensive overview of the institute's 7 centers and their diverse activities. For the fiscal year 2023-24, VAMNICOM conducted an impressive 274 training programmes outreaching 18,468 participants. Also discussed about action plan of VAMNICOM for the year 2024-2025.

In this meeting Director provided information about the Post-Graduation Diploma in Agribusiness Management (PGDM-ABM) course and 100% placement of 30th Batch and completion of 57th batch of the Post Graduate Diploma in Cooperative Business Management (PGDCBM) programme. This course is specialized for in-service people of the cooperative sector.
During his visit, Shri. Bansal engaged in an insightful interaction with the faculty and staff members of VAMNICOM to better understand their work and activities. He particularly discussed the one-day program on the Ministry of Cooperation's initiatives for Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). Shri. Bansal expressed keen interest in the program's execution and offered several suggestions for enhancement. He emphasized the importance of cooperative movement penetration at the grassroots level to strengthen the PACS members i.e. farmers.
Shri. Bansal also highlighted the need for increasing research studies in the cooperative sector with the help of successful cooperatives to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for Indian cooperatives. Consultancy and advisory services also need to be provided by VAMNICOM, Pune.
Col. Vinit Narayan from the Regional Office Pune, NCDC, Shri. J.E. Patki, In-charge Director of ICM Pune, as well as all faculty members of VAMNICOM, research officers, and academic associates, were present in the meeting.

Shri. Pankaj Kumar Bansal's visit marked a significant milestone for VAMNICOM, reinforcing the institute's pivotal role in cooperative education and training. His guidance and suggestions are expected to drive future initiatives, enhancing the effectiveness and reach of cooperative training programs across the country.
