With an eye on Olympic Glory, Rashtriya Raksha University announces Inauguration of Bharat Centre for Olympic Research and Education (B-CORE)

Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) is proud to announce the upcoming establishment of the Bharat Centre for Olympic Research and Education (B-CORE), slated to open tentatively in June 2024. This Centre, is set to be the world’s 71st and India’s & South Asia’s premier facility of its kind, has received official recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with the official endorsement of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

Overview: The Bharat Centre for Olympic Research and Education (B-CORE) at Rashtriya Raksha University aims to serve as a hub for disseminating research-based knowledge to scholars, professionals, sports personnel, coaches, and enthusiasts with a focus on promoting Olympism and fostering Olympic ideals within the country. This Centre will offer a wide array of resources and information to support academic pursuits, professional development, and sports management initiatives.

Key Objectives:

  1. Research & Education: B-CORE will provide comprehensive research materials and educational programs tailored to individuals interested in various aspects of sports management, Olympic studies, and related fields.
  2. Global Engagement: In addition to its domestic initiatives, B-CORE has long-term plans to engage in various Olympic-related activities on an international scale. Olympic Studies & Research Centres (OSRC) will attract scholars and researchers from around the globe. This includes hosting events, collaborating with other OSRCs worldwide, and contributing to the global discourse on Olympism.
  3. Career Development: B-CORE will introduce specialized courses designed to equip aspiring professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue successful careers in sports management and related disciplines.

Future Prospects: The establishment of the Bharat Centre for Olympic Research and Education aligns with India’s aspirations to potentially host future editions of the Olympics. By nurturing a culture of excellence in sports education and research, RRU aims to contribute significantly towards India’s readiness to host major international sporting events in the future.

The media meet was attended by distinguished personalities including Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor of RRU; Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra, Pro-Vice Chancellor of RRU; Mr. Utsav Chaware, Assistant Professor at RRU; and members of the School of Physical Education and Sports. As RRU prepares to launch B-CORE, this reaffirms its commitment to advancing sports education and research in India while contributing to the global Olympic movement.

Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) is an Indian central university specializing in national and internal security and police studies. About International Olympic Committee (IOC):

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is a non-governmental sports organization based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Founded in 1894 by Pierre de Coubertin and Demetrios Vikelas, the IOC is responsible for organizing the modern Olympic Games, including the Summer, Winter, and Youth editions. The IOC serves as the governing body of the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and oversees the worldwide Olympic Movement.

About Indian Olympic Association (IOA):

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is the governing body responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at various international sporting events, including the Olympic Games, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games. It was officially formed in 1927 and has played a crucial role in promoting and developing sports in India.

The IOA traces its origins back to India’s participation in the 1920 and 1924 Olympics. Following these games, a provisional Indian Olympic Committee was established, leading to the formation of the All India Olympic Committee in 1923-24. This eventually culminated in the creation of the Indian Olympic Association in 1927 under the leadership of Sir Dorab Tata. The IOA has been instrumental in sending teams to various Olympics and securing funding for these endeavours.
