Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram hosted a delegation from Niigata University, Japan. The delegation included the Vice President (Research), an Associate Professor, and five students. The visit offered a unique opportunity for the Japanese team to gain insights into IIST's academic and research endeavours. During their stay, participants engaged in field experiences at geologically significant locations in and around Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. 

The delegation also benefitted from lectures by the faculty members of IIST, contributing to their enrichment in diverse academic perspectives. The visit is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between IIST and Niigata University in December 2019. 

 A few of the other noteworthy partnerships of IIST for student exchange include collaborations with the Australian National University and with Caltech, where the toppers of B.Tech.  students get an opportunity to undertake a master’s program at California Institute of Technology (Caltech), USA, prior to joining ISRO. The 9-month program is financially supported under the DoS-Caltech ‘Professor Satish Dhawan Endowment Fellowship’.

Students from the Department of Earth and Space Sciences, IIST will also be participating in the onsite programs at Niigata University, Japan.
