Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah inaugurated 'Khelo Gandhinagar' and 'Gandhinagar Saansad Jan-Mahotsav' under the Parliamentarian Sports Competition in Gujarat today


About 1.75 lakh players will participate in 39 sports in this more than a month long sports competition

As per the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this Jan-Mahotsav is being organized to make all the public welfare schemes of the Central and Gujarat Government available to the people of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah inaugurated 'Khelo Gandhinagar' and 'Gandhinagar Saansad Jan-Mahotsav' under the Parliamentarian Sports Competition in Gujarat today. Many dignitaries including Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel were present on this occasion.

In his address, Shri Amit Shah said that from today, Jan Mahotsav is going to start in seven assembly constituencies of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency. He said that this Jan Mahotsav has many parts, in which first of all, as per the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, more than 1,50,000 children and youth will play through the ‘Khelo Gandhinagar’ programme. Along with this, about 15,000 artists in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Cultural Festival in the entire Gandhinagar region will take part in many arts competitions including painting, essay writing, light classical music, musical instruments etc. and will take forward the cultural development of Gandhinagar. Home Minister said that Premier League is also going to start in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, in which apart from these 1.50 lakh children, more than 40,000 youth will compete in cricket. Shri Shah said that as per the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this Jan Mahotsav is being organized to take all the public welfare schemes of the Central and Gujarat Government to the people of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

Shri Shah said that more than 1,50,000 players have registered themselves for the sports festival to be held under this Jan-Mahotsav. He said that about 1.75 lakh players will participate in 39 sports in this more than a month long sports competition.

Shri Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi conceived the Khelo India campaign keeping in mind the youth of the country to create a strong India. He said that sports not only makes our body strong, but also the passion to win comes from victory and defeat. Shri Shah added that Prime Minister Modi is purifying the country's politics and strengthening sports. He said that the Gujarat government is committed to promoting sports in the state. He said that in 2002, when Shri Narendra Modi ji became the Chief Minister of the state, the sports budget of Gujarat was Rs 2.5 crore, which Shri Bhupendra Patel has increased to Rs 293 crore today. Home Minister said that in the year 2006, Shaktidoot scheme was started, centers of excellence were established, district level sports school scheme was started and the 36th National Sports Festival was organized in Gujarat. At that time there were only three sports complexes in Gujarat, whereas today the state government has done the work of building fully equipped sports complexes in 22 districts of the state. He said that the world's largest cricket stadium is in Gujarat and the world's largest Sardar Patel Sports Complex is also being built here.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that Shri Narendra Modi, as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, had started many schemes to promote sports in the state and today as a result of them, the players of Gujarat are proving their mettle across the world. He said that Gujarat hoisted its flag at the national level for the first time by winning a total of 310 medals including 51 gold medals in the National Games of 2019. Players from Gujarat won 49 medals in the National Games in 2022 and 39 in 2023. Shri Shah said that Prime Minister Modi has taken several steps to encourage players at the national level, as a result of which Indian players will definitely win medals for the country in future sports competitions.

Shri Amit Shah told the youth present at the program that their aim should be to win medals for India in sports. He said that Prime Minister Modi has always encouraged all the sports and players of the entire country. He added that the registration of 1 lakh 75 thousand children, adolescents and youth in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency alone ensures that no one can stop us from becoming the Great India of Prime Minister Modi's imagination in 2047.
