Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched ‘Viksit Bharat @2047: Voice of Youth’ today via video conferencing across the Raj Bhawans of the country. Raj Bhawan Sikkim witnessed the presence of Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Vice-Chancellors, Registrars, eminent scholars and professors, media professionals and young aspiring students from different universities of Sikkim.

The Prime Minister in his virtual address urged the Vice-Chancellors and eminent professors that they should be channelizing force of these highly talented young minds to nation building and constantly promote them to share their individual input in this mission. Modi compared this coming years upto 2047 is like an examination to every Indian citizen “We should construct ‘Ek parivaar’ to build Viksit Bharat” PM remarked.

Following PM Modi’s address, Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya addressed the august gathering wherein the Governor referring to India’s struggle of Independence said, the objective of the government is to establish “Empowered India” and added Youth of India must dream to build an “Atma-nirbhar Nation” and have the resilience to execute it.
The Governor added that the young minds should express their thoughts without any hesitation; He opined young minds are the ocean of innovations, creative ideas and productivity and need to filter most productive thoughts, plans and work upon them. He remarked that India is now the fifth largest economy and targeting to be the third largest in coming future.

Shri Acharya said, he takes pride in mentioning that he represents a state with low crime rate, involving organic farming, empowered women “Narishakti” etc. The Governor iterated that there was a time when India followed other nations but now other nations follow us and seek for our Prime Minister’s autograph. This is indeed a moment of pride for every citizen of the country. The Governor concluded his speech with an invitation to think on two visions i.e how “Viksit Bharat@2047” would look like and the measures needed to construct ‘Viksit Bharat@2047: Voice of Youth’

The programme also witnessed panel discussion/Q&A session on thematic areas like Empowered Indians, Thriving and sustainable economy, Innovation, Science and Technology, Good Governance and Security and . India and the world. Some of the eminent speakers who shared their vision on the topics are Shri Avinash Khare, Vice Chancellor. Sikkim University, Jigme Wangchuk Bhutia, Controller of Examinations, Khangchendzonga State University, Mr. Pratyay Kuila, NIT Sikkim, Dr. Muralidhar V Pai, Gynaecologist of Sikkim Manipal University of Medical Science(SMIMS) etc. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs Seema Jha, Hindi assistant, Office of the Governor, Sikkim
Background
In line with the Prime Minister’s vision to actively involve the youth of the country in the formulation of national plans, priorities and goals of the country, ‘Viksit Bharat @2047: Voice of Youth’ initiative will provide a platform to the youth of the country to contribute ideas to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. The workshops will be a key step towards initiating the process of engaging youth to share their ideas and suggestions for Viksit Bharat @2047.
Viksit Bharat @2047 is the vision to make India a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of independence. The vision encompasses various aspects of development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance.
