Mumbai : 5 December 2023

Under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), a total amount of Rs. 7,568.63 cr. has been released and an amount of Rs. 12,672.51 cr. (which includes State share) has been utilized during the period of last 5 years i.e. Financial Years 2018-19 to 2022-23) in the State of Maharashtra. The Central Assistance under PMAY-G is released directly to the State considering State as a unit. Further release of these funds to beneficiaries in various districts is done by the respective State/UT Governments. Therefore, the district level data related to funds sanctioned, allocated and utilized is not maintained at the Ministry level. The following steps are taken by the Government of India for utilization of funds of by States under PMAY-G:

i.   Regular review of progress at the level of Ministry.

ii. Launch of PMAY-G Dashboard for monitoring and supervision of the scheme.

iii.  Timely allocation of targets to the States/UTs and release of adequate funds.

iv.  Regular follow ups with the State to ensure release of central and state share of funds and provision of land to landless beneficiaries in rural areas.

v.  Awards to the best performing States/UTs, districts and blocks based on performance index dashboard, thereby creating healthy competition and motivation among the States/UTs for achieving the set targets.

The Ministry of Rural Development is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) from 1st April, 2016 to provide assistance to eligible rural households for construction of 2.95 crore Pucca houses with basic amenities to achieve the objective of “Housing For All” in rural areas by March, 2024.

Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U): PMAY-U, which was earlier up-to 31.03.2022, has since been extended upto 31.12.2024, except CLSS vertical, to complete all the sanctioned houses without changing the funding pattern and implementation methodology. Under PMAY-U, Central Assistance of ₹ 23,337.41 crore was sanctioned, and ₹16,397.10 crore was released during last five years. During the period ₹15,857.44 crore was utilized which is inclusive of utilization of funds released in last five preceding years. The district-wise details of sanction of funds, released and utilization in respect of PMAY-U in Maharashtra State, including Nagpur and Ramtek District is attached as Annexure- III.

Completion of projects under PMAY-U generally takes 12-36 months under different verticals of scheme and therefore, actual fund utilization would be more than the utilization reported. Physical & financial progress of the sanctioned projects is monitored through Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) meetings, Video conferences, field visits as well as through a robust MIS system encompassing the submission of utilization of funds etc. All States/UTs have been advised to complete all the sanctioned projects/houses within the stipulated timeline by utilizing the funds released.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) under “Housing for All” Mission since June 2015 by providing Central assistance to supplement efforts of States/ Union Territories (UTs) for providing all weather ‘pucca’ houses with basic civic services to all eligible urban beneficiaries.

This has been stated by MoS Rural Development Smt. Sadhavi Niranjan Jyoti in Lok sabha today, in reply to an unstarred question by Shri.  Gajanan  Kirtikar  and Shri Krupal Tumane.
