DEVELOPMENT REPORT OF PM-KISAN IN WEST BENGAL

In a written reply to the unstarred question raised by MP Shri Sunil Kumar Mondal in the Lok Sabha today regarding the development report of the Pradhan Mantri KisanSamman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme launched by the Government especially in the State of West Bengal for the F.Y. 2022-23 and 2023-24, the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar stated that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a Central Sector Scheme, being implemented w.e.f. December 1, 2018.  The Scheme aims at providing financial assistance to all landholding farmer families across the country, subject to certain exclusion criteria, to enable them to take care of expenses related to agriculture and allied activities as well as domestic needs.  Under the Scheme, an amount of Rs. 6000/- per year is transferred in three-four installments each of Rs.2000/- directly into the Aadhar seeded bank accounts of the farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Under the PM-Kisan Scheme, over 2.80 lakh crore has been transferred to over 11 crore farmers across the country including West Bengal. In West Bengal, PM-Kisan Scheme was onboarded in FY 2021-22 and since then 51,14,346 farmers have received benefits worth over 7380.46 crore.

 

Shri Tomar said, the details of the funds released and number of beneficiaries of PM-KISAN for the State of West Bengal in FY 2022-23 and FY 2023-24 are as follows:

(b)        PM-KISAN Scheme is only concerned with providing financial assistance to all landholding farmer families across the country. No other developmental works are linked with the PM-KISAN Scheme.
