Eastern Railway (ER) today announced the introduction of a new Vande Bharat special train service between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri. This initiative has been undertaken to address the additional passenger demand and enhance the connectivity between these significant destinations, stated the ER authority.

The decision to launch the 02301/02302 Howrah – New Jalpaiguri – Howrah Vande Bharat Special train comes in response to the consistently high demand for the railway tickets, particularly to and from the renowned tourist spot of Darjeeling. As one of the most popular travel destinations, Darjeeling attracts tourists throughout the year, leading to an ongoing surge in the demand for efficient and comfortable transportation.

The Vande Bharat special train with its modern amenities, speed, and comfort, makes a preferred choice for the passengers. The introduction of this special service aims not only to clear the extra rush of passengers but also to provide a reliable and popular transportation option for those traveling between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri.

The 02301 Howrah – New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Special will leave Howrah at 05:55 am on every Wednesday between November 15, 2023 & November 29, 2023 (three trips)   to reach New Jalpaiguri at 1:25 pm on the same day. The train will stop at Bolpur (Arr./Dep 07:37 am07:39 am),  Malda Town (Arr./Dep 10:32 am/10:35 am) & Barsoi (Arr./Dep 11:38 am/11:40 am) stations en route. 

The 02302 New Jalpaiguri – Howrah Vande Bharat Special will leave New Jalpaiguri at 3:00 pm on every Wednesday between November 15, 2023 & November 29, 2023 (three trips)   to reach Howrah at 10:35 pm at night on the same day. The train will stop at Barsoi (Arr./Dep 4:28 pm/4:30 pm),  Malda Town (Arr./Dep 5:55 pm/5:58 pm) &  Bolpur (Arr./Dep 8:13 pm/8:15 pm) stations en route. 

The date of booking of tickets for the 02301 Howrah – New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Special train will be available on & from November 12, 2023 through PRS & Internet. Special charge in addition to existing fare of Howrah – New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express will be realised. Concessional booking will not be allowed. Tatkal quota will not be available, stated the ER authority.
