PM Addresses National Rozgar Mela, Distributes 51,000 Appointment Letters to New Appointees in Various Government Organisations

Recruitment Drive in the Form of Rozgar Mela Organised in West Bengal

As a part of Union Government's endeavour to generate more and more employment in a mission mode, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today launched the 10th tranche of the Rozgar Mela, the “Historic Recruitment Drive' for 51,000 newly recruited appointees across the country via video conferencing today. On this occasion the Prime Minister also addressed the newly inducted recruits.

In West Bengal also, Rozgar Melas were organized today at Kolkata, Kharagpur and Siliguri-New Jalpaiguri areas to distribute appointment letters to the new appointees in the various departments of the Union Government. The programmes at these places were organised by the Ministry of Railways.

At Kolkata, Rozgar Mela was organised by the Eastern Railway at Dr. B. C. Roy Auditorium, Sealdah wherein Shri Nityanand Rai, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager, Smt. Zarina Firdausi, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Shri Deepak Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah and other senior officers from various Central Government departments graced the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rai said that providing jobs to the youth of this country is the utmost priority. He informed that under the able guidance of the Prime Minister, about 6,30,000 jobs were provided till this 10th Rojgar Mela.

In this 10th edition of Rozgar Mela, 3624 candidates of Eastern Railway have been offered appointment and other joining processes. Shri Sumit Sarkar, AGM also expressed his happiness as other Ministries such as Ministry of Defence, FCI, P&T, GSI, AIIMS, Department of Financial Services and Ministry of Education participated in this Rozgar Mela.

The Appointment Letters were physically handed over by the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs to the new appointees in different departments in Central Government. On this occasion, 214 new appointees participated out of which, 25 new appointees were handed over the appointment letters physically by the dignitaries.

In another function at Kashmir Colony in the Siliguri-New Jalpaiguri area of North Bengal, the Union Minister of State for Home, Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Nisith Pramanik handed over 68 Appointment Letters to the new appointees. In that function, MLA of Siliguri, Shri Shankar Ghosh and DRM, Katihar Shri Surendra Kumar were present. Though 70 appointment letters were to be distributed today, two of the new appointees were not present at the function. The new Appointees are supposed to serve Banks, Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Ministry of Railways.

In the third function at Kharagpur, South Bengal, MP Shri Dilip Ghosh was present as the Chief Guest. He handed over the Appointment Letters to the new appointees. Total 159 Appointment letters were handed over to the newly inducted recruits for different posts in various Ministries and Departments including Railways, Postal, FCI, Home Affairs, Health etc.

The new recruits selected from across the country will join various positions/posts under Government of India such as Train Manager, Station Master, Accounts Clerk, Track Maintainer, Junior Engineers, Technicians, Personal Assistant, Stenographer, Junior Secretariat Assiatant, Junior Passport Assistant, Tax Assistant, MTS, Postal Assistant, among others. The Rozgar Mela serves as a catalyst in further employment generation and provides meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and participation in national development.
