On October 28, 2023, the National Academy of Coastal Policing (NACP), Okha, Gujarat, conducted the closing ceremony of the 12th Foundation Course on Coastal Operations, in which 97 Police officers, pooled from 9 coastal states and 4 coastal Union Territories, were declared successful after undergoing intensive and rigorous training and assessment in coastal operations.
This is the first batch of officials passed out from NACP with the Diploma in Coastal Security Operations from Gandhinagar, Gujarat-based Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an institution of National Importance.
Border Security Force (BSF) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shri Sudhindra K. Singh, who is heading NACP, congratulated all the successful police officers and urged them to use the skills they have learned in strengthening the coastal security of their respective State/UT and contribute to securing India's approximately 7,516 km coastline.
DIG Singh, complimented RRU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel for forging the partnership with NACP and extended his special thanks to Shri Sushil Goswami, Director, School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies, RRU for his sincere efforts in fructifying the MoU between NACP and RRU, and enabling passing out officers to receive Diploma from RRU. Diploma, according to DIG Singh, will not just enable officers to continue their academic pursuit in the specialized domain of coastal security and operations and accumulate more academic credits but will also help India's coastal states and UTs to have a cadre of specially trained coastal police officers.
DIG Singh also complimented the NACP team led by BSF Deputy Commandant Mr. CB Prasad and Assistant Commandants Mr. Ram Kishan, Mr. Atul Gahlaut, Mr. Sonal Bohra, and others for meticulously planning and executing the extensive training program and giving their best reskilling and upskilling to the coastal and marine police officers.
Dr. Dharmesh Kumar Prajapati, I/c Deputy Registrar, RRU, administered the oath to the successful officers to conduct themselves as worthy members of the university.
Mr. Ankur Sharma, Assistant Professor, Rashtriya Raksha University, interacted with the NACP officials present, discussed the activities of the RRU, and explored avenues of joint future collaborations between both organizations in the field of training and capacity building in the realm of coastal and maritime security.
It is pertinent to note that both organizations, NACP in Okha and RRU in Gandhinagar, are ambitious projects of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, and Hon'ble Minister of Home and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah that have been established to impart world-class training and capacity building programs for police forces and strength the security of the nation.
