Block level Kalash Yatras under Meri Maati Mera Desh Campaign begins across the state

The Meri Maati Mera Desh, a nation-wide campaign envisaged as the culminating event of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, has now entered next stage in which the Block Level Kalash Yatras will be organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) across all blocks of Tamilnadu & Union Territory of Puducherry. The mitti (soil) collected from the villages during the village level kalash yatras will be brought to the block level programmes and poured into a larger kalash at the functions to be held at block headquarters. A total 364 block level kalash yatras are proposed to be organized by NYKS in coordination with central nodal agencies of Indian Posts, CISF, Lead Banks & Common Service Centers and organizations like NSS, NCC, Scouts & Guides, PRI institutions & community based organizations (CBOs). During the block level programmes, panch pran pledge will also be administered. The Central Bureau of Communication under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting & South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India will arrange cultural performance during the block level programmes. The block level kalash from all blocks of Tamilnadu & Puducherry will be brought to the state capital and then to national capital New Delhi where the final event of the MMMD campaign will be held at the end of this month.

In Chennai District, Block Level Kalash Yatra was organized at Kendriya Vidyalaya Island Ground under the joint auspicious of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and NYK Chennai Rural. Cine Actor & Former M.L.A S Ve Sekar was the chief guest and received the kalash brought from various regions. CISF Deputy Inspector General Harpeet Kaur, NYKS State Director K. Kunhammed, SBI Chief Security Manager Sarika Chauan, SBI Chief Manager N.V Radhakrisna, Kendriya Vidyalaya Principal Krishnasamy, CISF Commandant Karthikeyan, Asst. Commandant Shaik Jabbar & NYK Deputy Director J. Sampathkumar were present on the occasion.

In Karaikkal District of UT of Puducherry, block level kalash yatra was conducted jointly by NYK, Block Development Office & Common Service Centre. NYK District Youth Officer U. Manimaran, Block Development Officer Arunagirinathan, Joint BDO R. Ranganathan, CSC Manager S Pavendhan & DRDA Officer Mariappan led the kalash yatra.

In Krishnagiri District, block level kalash yatra was conducted in Arakkonam block by Nehru Yuva Kendra Vellore. NYK District Youth Officer Prem Bharat Kumar, Postal Department Asst. Superintendent Murugeswari, Govt. Boys Higher Secondary Principal Bhupalan, Representative of Ministry of Culture Suresh attended the function. The soil collected from various villages of block was handed over to NYK by the officials of postal department.
