Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy organised a conference in collaboration with the Dr Anjali Chatterjee Regional Research Institute for Homoeopathy as an East zone event here in the city today. The purpose of the conference was to lead homoeopathy to a stage where it becomes the primary choice for patient treatment, wellness, health promotion and disease prevention – a goal en-capsulated by "Sarvajnaya Swasthya".  The East Zone event was inaugurated by Dr Mahendrabhai Munjapara, Minister of State for AYUSH and Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.

 

Addressing the gathering, the Minister appreciated the clinical effects of homoeopathy and efforts being made in research. Great strides are being made in all systems of Ayush. The Government is promoting infrastructure development, human resource development, drug development and creating Ayush resources based on research and best practices, the Minister added.

West Bengal is the capital province of Homoeopathy in India, from where the system flourished and spread to all parts of the country, Dr Mahendrabhai informed mentioning that the time has come to bring forth the evidence in favour of homoeopathy in front of the world by collating clinical and research evidence. He stated that this endeavour paves the way for India to attain global leadership in homoeopathic education, practice and research, with a firm commitment to ensuring that all treatments and approaches are grounded in high-quality, evidence-based parameters.

 

The Minister highlighted about the initiatives taken up by the Ministry of Ayush to promote Ayush system of medicines and that Ministry has encouraged promotion of research and development in the systems of medicine to make them more evidence-based and effective. In order to support quality research in Homoeopathy, the Ministry of Ayush has also increased its budgetary allocation and has expressed his satisfaction for the good work done by CCRH in public health, epidemics, outpatients-based research or hospital-based tertiary care research. He appealed the homoeopathic fraternity to keep up the good work of uplifting Homoeopathy, whether by clinical practice, teaching, or research.

The theme of the event was “Homoeoparivar – Sarvajan Swasthya, One Health, One Family”. The conference aimed to promote evidence-based homoeopathic treatment for health and wellness of the entire family, capacity building of homoeopathic practitioners to provide homoeopathy as first line of treatment and promote homoeopathy as a treatment of choice in households.

 

Memorandum of understanding between Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) and Indian Institute of Homoeopathy (IIT) Kharagpur and between National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH) and IIT Kharagpur were also exchanged on the occasion.

Dr Subhash Kaushik, Director General, CCRH; Dr Anil Khurana, Chairperson, NCH; Dr Subhash Singh, Director, NIH; Dr Ratin Chakraborty, Renowned Homeopathy physician; Dr Sangita Dey Dugar, Advisor to Ministry of AYUSH among others were also present on the occasion.
