NIFT Gandhinagar's "Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta" Initiative Marks a Resounding Success in Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2023

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Gandhinagar, in a commendable display of commitment to cleanliness and environmental responsibility, successfully conducted the "Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta at NIFT Gandhinagar" initiative on October 1, 2023. This event, held as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign, aimed to promote cleanliness, beautification, and the theme of "Garbage Free India." – Informed Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, Director, NIFT Gandhinagar.

 

Key Highlights of the Initiative:

  • Comprehensive Action Plan: NIFT Gandhinagar meticulously planned and executed a series of activities aimed at enhancing the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the campus. These activities included the beautification of the campus's front and adjacent areas, tree planting, tree pruning and trimming, departmental and workspace cleanups, and the involvement of a judging panel to evaluate departmental cleanliness efforts.
  • Leadership and Commitment: Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, the Campus Director of NIFT Gandhinagar, provided strong leadership and unwavering commitment to the initiative. His meticulous monitoring of progress ensured the successful execution of the campaign. In his address to the entire NIFT community, Prof. Dr. Sood emphasized the importance of translating the campaign's ideals into tangible on-site actions that engage all participants.
  • Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign Overview: The SHS campaign, celebrated from September 15th to October 2nd, 2023, is a nationwide initiative jointly organized by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). It focuses on generating community participation through shramdaan (voluntary labor), promoting the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), disseminating the concept of a "sampoorna swachh village," and reinforcing the idea that sanitation is everyone's business. This campaign serves as a prelude to Swachh Bharat Diwas on October 2nd.

  • Theme: "Garbage Free India": The theme of SHS-2023, "Garbage Free India," emphasizes visual cleanliness. The spirit of cleanliness activities is rooted in voluntarism and shramdaan, symbolizing the commitment of individuals and communities to a cleaner India.
  • Nukkad Natak for Awareness: In addition to the campus beautification and cleanliness activities, a thought-provoking nukkad natak (street play) was organized by the student team to spread awareness about cleanliness. The play engaged the audience and conveyed important messages about the significance of cleanliness and sanitation in a captivating manner – informed Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, Director, NIFT Gandhinagar.
