Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations in Pune

On the  occasion of Gandhi Jayanti 2023, the National Institute of Naturopathy, Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India organized Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations in association with Pune Metro Corporation Limited, Central Bureau of Communication(CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, District Legal Services Authority, Pune and various other organizations associated with Mahatma Gandhi.

The programme  began with floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at NIN’s Gandhi Museum. A brief talk on ‘Ethics and Administration’ was given by Shri A.N. Tripathi. Later, the event started at Civil Court Metro Station with a captivating musical tribute that touched the hearts of all in attendance. CBC artists performed Bhavyanjali (Gandhi Bhajans) which resonated deeply with Mahatma Gandhi's principles of peace, non-violence, and unity. The event was a resounding success, blending art, culture, and history. 

Exhibition of Mahatma Gandhi Postal Stamps by Sankha Samanta:

The exhibition of Mahatma Gandhi postal stamps curated by the artist Shri Sankha Samanta was a visual delight and a journey through the life and times of Mahatma Gandhi. Attendees had the privilege of witnessing a remarkable collection of stamps that showcased Gandhiji's remarkable journey of struggle, selflessness, and resilience. Mr. Samanta's curation added an artistic dimension to this unique exhibit.

Live Gandhi Clay Moulding

A highlight of the event was the live clay moulding activity, where skilled artisan Shri Uttam Shate showcased their craftsmanship by creating stunning clay sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi bust. The intricate details and dedication put into each piece were a testament to the enduring impact of Gandhi's image on art and culture. Attendees had the unique opportunity to witness these artists at work, capturing the essence of the Mahatma's simplicity and wisdom in their creations.

Warli Paintings by NIN Tribal Department Students

The event was also showcased the Warli paintings created by students from the National Institute of Naturopahty (NIN) Tribal Department. These intricate and culturally rich artworks beautifully conveyed themes of peace, harmony, and Gandhian values. 

Free Naturopathy Consultation:

In line with Mahatma Gandhi's emphasis on holistic well-being, the event offered free naturopathy consultations to all attendees. Experienced naturopathic practitioners were on hand to provide valuable insights and guidance on natural healing methods and lifestyle choices that align with Gandhian principles of simplicity and self-reliance. This initiative was well-received and reflected the event's commitment to promoting wellness.

Flash Mob Tribute

An electrifying flash mob performance, where talented dancers came together to pay tribute to the Mahatma through the medium of dance. Their synchronized moves beautifully conveyed Gandhi's philosophy of unity, peace, and non-violence, captivating the audience and setting the tone for the day.

Talk on Postal Stamps featuring Mahatma Gandhi

The event culminated in an enlightening talk on postal stamps dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. Expert philatelist and artist Shri Sankha Samanta shared insights into the rich history of postage stamps featuring the Mahatma, discussing their significance as a medium to commemorate his legacy. The talk offered a deep dive into the world of philately, revealing the unique stories behind each stamp.

At the conclusion, Wooden Charkha presented to Shri Sankha Samanta which was done by Yerwada Jail prisoners; to convey the theme of Gandhi Jayanti.
