CGST and Central Excise, Raipur busted fake invoice racket

During the course of investigating a fake invoice racket, it was noticed by the officers of the Fake Invoice & Prosecution Cell, CGST & Central Excise, Raipur that one Anush Gangwani, resident of Daldal Seoni and proprietor of M/s Gurunanak Sales, Raipur had created a number of fake firms for the sole purpose of distributing fake credit to unscrupulous traders in Chhattisgarh, resulting in large scale evasion of GST by way of availing and utilizing fake ITC without receipt of any underlying goods or services. Accordingly, search was conducted at the premises of Anush Gangwani.

 

The investigation revealed that Anush Gangwani was operating a total number of 5 firms through whom he was found to have passed on fake input tax credit amounting to Rs.5.53 crores to various assessees, without supplying any underlying goods and services. Accused had availed and utilized the fake input tax credit (without receipt of any underlying goods and services) for payment of their outward GST liability.

 

Accordingly, Anush Gangwani was arrested on 29.09.2023 by Central GST team under provisions of section 69(1) of CGST Act 2017 and have been produced before court and Hon CJM court has granted 14 days custody of the accused.

 

In the past also CGST Raipur has taken strict Enforcement action against tax evaders specifically against taxpayers involved in business of bogus billing and in the past two months alone, two such rackets have been busted.
