IIT Bhilai organised “Hindi Pakhwada” over the last fortnight. Hindi is the fourth most spoken language in the world and it has contributed unequivocally towards the promotion of Indian culture. The event is held each year at IIT Bhilai to honour Hindi as an official language of India.

 

The event began on September 14, 2023 with an oath taking ceremony in which all faculty and staff members enthusiastically took a pledge to use the Hindi language for official work. An array of competitions including quiz, poetry and essay writing, poem recitations and speeches were conducted and engendered enthusiastic participation throughout the last fortnight.  The winners of these competitions were awarded prizes and certificates. Prof. Rajiv Prakash, Director, IIT Bhilai, gave a concluding speech on the final day of the event.

 

Prof. Prakash talked about conducting various activities during Hindi Pakhwada to increase the involvement of people and bring out the interest of Hindi in their daily lives. There should be a larger participation beyond the scope of just celebrating a fortnight. Regular speaking Hindi, watching Hindi movies, reading Hindi Newspapers, and writing in Hindi are also necessary.
