Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi flagged off nine new Vande Bharat Express trains including the Kasargod - Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express via video conference. The flag-off ceremony of the new Vande Bharat Express connecting various cities of the country was telecast live across nine centres.
In a colorful ceremony held at Kasargod railway station, people showered flowers over the new train and enthusiastically participated in the flag off ceremony. Union Minister of State for External and Parliamentary Affairs Shri V. Muralidharan attended the function in Kasaragod. He said that as the Prime Minister had mentioned at the Red Fort during the last Independence Day celebrations, the era of development is coming to India and Vande Bharat is a part of it. There was a campaign that there is no Vande Bharat for Kerala. But now the second Vande Bharat is running in the State, he said. The Union Minister said that the speed of the Vande Bharat will increase further and the second Vande Bharat is slightly better than the previous one technically.
Speaking on the occasion, Kasargod MP Shri Rajmohan Unnithan hoped that more high-speed trains will be approved for Kerala. Kerala Sports Minister Shri V. Abdurahman, who is also in charge of Railways, Kasargod MLA, Shri NA Nellikunnu and others participated in the function. Shri Arun Kumar Chaturvedi, Palakkad Railway Divisional Manager welcomed the guests.
The indigenously built Vande Bharat Express is redefining the rail travel experience in our country. The inaugural special of the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Central Vande Bharat Express will stop at nominated railway stations to give children, railway enthusiasts and the general public an opportunity to witness the prestigious train service.
