Shri V. L. Kantha Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India, in presence of Shri Deoranjan Kumar Singh, IAS, Addl. Chief Secretary, Deptt. of Steel & Mines, Govt. of Odisha and Shri Janardan Prasad, Director General, Geological Survey of India,  had a meeting  with different State and Central agencies dealing with Mines & Minerals and other stakeholders at Bhubaneswar on 09.09.2023. Participants from Central Govt. agencies / PSUs, GSI, NALCO, IBM and from State agencies including Deptt. of Steel & Mines, Directorate of Mines & Geology, OMC, Deptt. of Planning & Convergence attended the meeting. The representatives of Industries and Industry associations including JSW, JSPL, Vedanta, AMNS, ASSOCHAM, Indian Chambers of Commerce (ICC), Tata Steel, FICCI, FIMI, UCCIL, CII also presented their views about the various issues faced by them.

The delebrations were held on the various issues pertaining to Mining and Mineral sector of the State. The Secretary, Mines emphasized on the role of different agencies and asked for collective efforts for enhancement of exploration activities by different agencies and use of NMET funds, action plan for auction of mineral blocks, timely operationalisation of auctioned block and increasing the production with sustainable mining. He further assured cooperation and all possible support from the Ministry to sort out the issues.

Shri D K Singh, in his remarks, mentioned about the role of different agencies in accelerating the pace of auctioning of mineral blocks and asked for everybody’s cooperation.

The Secretary assured better coordination between the Ministry of Mines and State agencies for development of the mineral sector in the state of Odisha.
