16 BLOCKS SELECTED FOR ASPIRATIONAL BLOCK PROGRAMME IN TAMILNADU

Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said that 16 blocks from 16 districts have been selected for the aspirational blocks programme from Tamil Nadu.
This was stated by the minister in a written reply to a question raised by Shri. R. Dharmar in the Rajya Sabha.
The minister said that The Aspirational Blocks Programme was launched on 7th January 2023 by Government of India and is anchored by NITI Aayog.
The Aspirational Blocks Programme is a nationwide programme which focuses on improving governance to enhance the quality of life of citizens in the most difficult and underdeveloped blocks of India by converging existing schemes, defining outcomes, and monitoring them on a constant basis.
An amount of Rs. 100 Crores is allocated for expenditure under the Aspirational Blocks Programme for the year 2023-24.
The programme covers 500 blocks across 27 States and 4 Union Territories.
The list of blocks from Tamil Nadu which are part of the programme is given as Annexure.
The Programme focuses on Health and Nutrition, Education, Agriculture, Basic Infrastructure and Social Development.
The Programme has a Key Performance Indicator framework as per the specific focus areas mentioned in reply to part (f) above, on the basis of which the progress of blocks are to be monitored on a regular basis.
