On the momentous occasion of the three-year anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP), the Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDE) takes great pride in highlighting the exceptional strides made in the implementation of the policy's skill development initiatives. RDSDE's commitment to fostering holistic development, promoting inclusive and sustainable skills, and equipping students with future-ready abilities has been unwavering. Through innovative programs, industry-academia collaborations, and comprehensive teacher training, RDSDE has been instrumental in shaping the workforce of tomorrow.

1. Integration of Vocational Education in General Education

NEP 2020 recognizes the significance of integrating vocational education with general education to equip students with both academic and practical skills. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 2022-23), RDSDE has successfully onboarded close to 1000 Skill Hubs, including prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIITs, NITs, and central universities. About 1 lakh candidates are currently enrolled in these Skill Hubs, benefiting from quality training in diverse fields.

2. Focus on Holistic and Employability Skills

RDSDE's Employability Skills (ES) curriculum has been revamped to ensure trainees are industry-ready. With courses now extended to 120 hours, 180 hours, and 60 hours for trades of duration 1 year, 2 years, and 6 months, respectively, students are better equipped for a competitive job market.

3. Skilling in Regional Languages

As part of its commitment to linguistic diversity and inclusive education, RDSDE has published 100 books in Bhartiya Bhasha, translated into 12 regional languages. This initiative breaks language barriers, making skill development and entrepreneurship knowledge accessible to all.

4. Technology-Enabled Learning

To meet the demands of the global market, RDSDE has developed over 330 new-age courses, tailored to Industry 4.0 requirements. Learners are equipped with the latest technological skills, empowering them to thrive in the digital economy.

5. Industry-Academia Collaboration

NEP 2020 emphasizes stronger collaboration between educational institutions and industries. RDSDE facilitates partnerships to align curriculum with industry requirements, provide internships and apprenticeships, and promote industry exposure.

6. Reskilling & Upskilling

With the rapidly changing landscape, RDSDE acknowledges the importance of reskilling and upskilling. Collaborative efforts between academia, industry, and government ensure a future-ready workforce that drives innovation and inclusive development.

7. Inclusive and Sustainable Skills

RDSDE envisions skill development as a means to promote inclusive and sustainable development. Initiatives like skill training for women, jail inmates, transgenders, and artisans contribute to a diverse and empowered workforce.

8. Entrepreneurship Education

RDSDE drives the entrepreneurship development agenda to create more job providers than seekers. NSTIs have been registered as NIESBUD centers for entrepreneurship courses, promoting an entrepreneurial mindset among students.

9. Continuous Teacher Training and Professional Development

Recognizing the crucial role of teachers, RDSDE offers comprehensive training programs to equip educators with the necessary skills to support students' development effectively.
