Goa (Madgaon) – Mumbai Vande Bharat Express is expected to significantly enhance tourism in Goa- Union MoS Shripad Naik

Today marked a momentous occasion as Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off five Vande Bharat Express trains, including the highly anticipated Goa (Madgaon) – Mumbai route. The ceremony took place at Madgaon Railway Station, where esteemed guests such as Governor of Goa, P.S Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, and Union Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shripad Naik, were in attendance. The newly launched train is expected to run thrice a week during monsoons and six times a week during the non-monsoon season.

Expressing his gratitude, Shripad Naik, Union Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways, extended his heartfelt appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing the first Vande Bharat Express train to Goa. He also conveyed his congratulations to the people of the state for this historic achievement, stating that today marks a significant milestone in the development of Goa. The launch of the Goa (Madgaon) – Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, along with four other trains, signifies the government's commitment to enhancing the connectivity and progress of our nation.

He said, "Prior to the 5 Vande Bharat trains being launched today, there were 18 Vande Bharat Express  trains in operation. The trains are known for their fully air-conditioned electric coaches and passenger-friendly amenities. Looking ahead, the vision is to have 400 Vande Bharat Express trains running across the nation within the next three years, the Union Minister of State said. He added that sleeper coaches will be introduced to the Vande Bharat Express to accommodate the general public, ensuring a comfortable and convenient travel experience for all in the future. Minister Shripad Naik emphasized that the introduction of Vande Bharat Express in Goa, a state boasting two airports, will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of tourism.

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visionary leadership in revolutionizing the railway sector. He highlighted the significant advancements in connectivity achieved under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, encompassing roads, railways, waterways, and air routes. Notably, there are ongoing plans to expand the national highway network in Goa and establish road connectivity to Mormugao port, which will further enhance transportation infrastructure. The newly constructed Mopa Airport has also played a pivotal role by connecting Goa to 20 new cities, opening up vast opportunities for economic growth and overall development. Dr. Sawant expressed his optimism that the Goa (Madgaon) – Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, once operating on a double track, will substantially reduce travel time to a mere five hours.

Goa (Madgaon)- Mumbai Vande Bharat Express train will depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Station and reach Madgaon station the same day with stoppages at Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Khed, Ratnagiri, Kankavali & Thivim Railway stations.

The train is expected to run according to the following schedule.

Train no. 22229 / 22230 Mumbai CSMT - Madgaon Jn. - Mumbai CSMT Vande Bharat Express:

Monsoon Timings : (Tri - Weekly)

Train No. 22229 Mumbai CSMT - Madgaon Jn. Vande Bharat  Express  will leave from Mumbai CSMT at 05:25 hrs on every Monday, Wednesday & Friday  from 28/06/2023 to 30/10/2023. Train will reach Madgaon Jn.  at 15:30  Hrs on the same day.

Train No. 22230 Madgaon Jn. - Mumbai CSMT Vande Bharat  Express  will leave from Madgaon Jn. at 12:20 hrs on every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday from 29/06/2023 to 31/10/2023.  Train will reach Mumbai CSMT  at 22:25  Hrs on the same day.

Non-Monsoon Timings : (Six days a week except Friday) :

Train No. 22229 Mumbai CSMT - Madgaon Jn. Vande Bharat  Express  will leave from Mumbai CSMT  at 05:25 hrs on every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday (Six days a week) from 01/11/2023. Train will reach Madgaon Jn.  at 13:10  Hrs on the same day.

Train No. 22230 Madgaon Jn. - Mumbai CSMT Vande Bharat  Express  will leave from Madgaon Jn. at 14:40 hrs on every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday (Six days a week) from 01/11/2023.  Train will reach Mumbai CSMT  at 22:25  Hrs on the same day.

The train will halt at Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Khed, Ratnagiri, Kankavali & Thivim stations.
