Under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Yuva Sangam Phase-II initiative, 42 students from Chhattisgarh  arrived in Nagaland today, the 15th June 2023 for a week-long Cultural Exchange Programme. The students were accompanied by four faculty members from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Raipur.  Yuva Sangam is an initiative launched by the Indian Government on 6th February, 2023 to promote the cultural and communion of the Northeast Region with the rest of the country. It is a multi-dimensional discloser tour of the Northeastern States through sightseeing, cultural exchange and interactions On their arrival the guest students and faculty members were received by Dr. Rosang Pongen, Nodal officer the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Nagaland state and their team accompanied by the 7th Assam Rifles.

 

Later, an inaugural programme of the cultural exchange tour was held at NIT, Nagaland at Chumoukedima. Dr. S. Venugopal, Director NIT Nagaland and Professor Themrichon Tuithung, Dean Student Affairs, NIT Nagaland welcomed the Chhattisgarh delegates to the Institute and Nagaland state. On behalf of Chattisgarh delegates Dr. D.C Jhariya from NIT Raipur shared the excitement and enthusiasm of all Chhattisgarh delegates to learn about Nagaland. Chumoukedima Village Council Chairman, Razouvotuo Khroitsu greeted all delegates. He called on the students to know and learn about Nagaland culture and traditions and take them back to their place and spread their experiences. Dr. Zhoto Tumyi, Assistant Professor, Department Of Political science, Patkai Christian College briefed the delegates on the culture, tradition, people and society of Nagaland.

During the week-long stay in the state, the students and faculty members will be exploring the cultural heritage of Nagaland and participate in various cultural, technical and entertainment events. Some of the iteneries include visits to Naga Heritage Village Kisama and Dzülakie Village in Kohima, Nagaland Handloom and Handicraft Development Limited in Dimapur, Chumpo Museum at Sovima in Chumoukedima. The students will also learn about the local fruits and vegetables of Nagaland, experience the traditional method of cooking various Naga cuisines and witness different traditional music. An interactive session will also be held between students of Chhattisgarh and Nagaland to exchange views and ideas of their respective culture and traditions. The delegates will depart for Chhattisgarh on 19th June.

It may be mentioned that 42 students from Nagaland left for Chhattisgarh on 12th June 2023 for a week-long Cultural Exchange Programme. This time Nagaland has been paired with Chhattisgarh, where the National Institute of Technology, Riapur (NITRR) will be the host Higher Educational Institution. The students will attend different programmes at Chhattisgarh, after which they will return to Nagaland on 20th June.
