BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS, CHENNAI BRANCH OFFICE ORGANIZES MANAK MANTHAN-DISCUSSION WITH STAKEHOLDERS ON “MANAK MANTHAN ON UPVC PROFILES FOR WINDOWS AND DOORS AS PER IS 17953:2023" IN CHENNAI

Bureau of Indian Standards, Chennai Branch Office organised the MANAKMANTHAN on “Manak Manthan on uPVC Profiles for Windows and Doors as per IS 17953:2023" in Chennai Today (25 May 2023, Thursday). uPVC, or unplasticized polyvinyl chloride, is a durable and lightweight material that is commonly used in the construction of doors and windows. uPVC profiles are known for their strength and durability. Another advantage of uPVC profiles is their energy efficiency. uPVC profiles are also easy to maintain and keep clean. The newly drafted Indian Standard for uPVC profiles for doors and windows specifies the raw material requirements, Appearance and performance of profiles. The standard covers various aspects of uPVC profiles, including raw materials used for construction, dimensions, physical properties, Sampling for conformity assessment. It also specifies guidelines for testing the performance of uPVC Profiles including weldability, resistance to impact of falling mass and heat reversion. It will ensure the safety, quality, reliability and performance of the uPVC Profiles to be used for doors and windows.

BIS has started organizing new series of discussion-programmes titled “Manak Manthan” for the benefit of industry which is scheduled on every month, and is envisaged to launch new standards and share important revisions / amendments and wide circulation drafts to local manufacturers, Industrial and Trade Bodies, Chambers of Commerce, Industry Associations, PSU’s or organizations who use such products, Government departments, Regulatory bodies, Laboratories, Civil society groups and Academia.

Bureau of Indian Standards, the National Standards Body of India is a statutory body functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. It operates various schemes like Product Certification (ISI mark), Management Systems Certification, Hall Marking of Gold and Silver Jewellery/Artefacts and Laboratory Services for the benefit of the industry and in turn aiming at consumer protection.

More than 100 Stakeholders of the subject matter attend the programme. Shri. SATHYAMURTHY K.P, Engineer-in-Chief and Chief Engineer (General), Public Works Department, Chennai was the Chief Guest of the Programme. Smt.G.Bhavani, Director & Head (Chennai Branch Office) explained the Objectives of the programme and other Officers of BIS handled the sessions.
