4.28 Kgs Gold worth Rs. 2.2 Crore seized by Chennai Air Customs in three days

Based on intelligence, one male Indian passenger, who arrived from Doha in Flight no. 6E-1322 on 18.05.2023 was intercepted by the Air Custom Officers. On examination of his person, Gold in paste/compound form found concealed in his body resulting in recovery of 524 grams of gold worth 28.13 Lakhs, which was recovered and seized under Customs Act, 1962.

In another incident, based on intelligence, one Female Srilankan passenger, who arrived from Colombo in Flight no. UL-121 on 18.05.2023 was intercepted by the Air Custom Officers. On examination of her person, Gold in paste/compound form found concealed in her undergarments resulting in recovery of 352 grams of gold worth 18.89 Lakhs, which was recovered and seized under Customs Act, 1962.

In another incident, based on intelligence, one Male Srilankan passenger, who arrived from Colombo in Flight no. UL-121 on 18.05.2023 was intercepted by the Air Custom Officers. On examination of his person, Gold in paste/compound form found concealed in his undergarments resulting in recovery of 378 grams of gold worth 20.29 Lakhs, which was recovered and seized under Customs Act, 1962

In total gold worth Rs. 67.32 Lakhs was recovered and seized under Customs Act, 1962.

More over based on intelligence, one male Indian passenger, who arrived from Dubai in Flight no. AI 906 on 11.05.2023 was intercepted by the Air Custom Officers. On examination of his Check in Baggage, 4 no. of Gold strips were found concealed inside the metal beading of the stroller bag, resulting in recovery of 900 grams of gold valued at 47.50 Lakhs, which was recovered and seized under Customs Act, 1962.

 

In another incident, one Female Srilankan passenger, who arrived from Colombo in Flight no. AI274 on 11.05.2023 was intercepted by the Air Custom Officers. On examination of her person, Gold in paste form was found concealed in her body resulting in recovery of 325 grams of gold ingot valued at 17.15 Lakhs, which was recovered and seized under Customs Act, 1962.

 

Based on intelligence, Chennai Air Customs officers intercepted one male Indian passenger who arrived from Dubai via Flight No. AI-906 on 16.05.2023. On search of his person, three bundles of gold in rubbery paste form were found concealed in his body resulting in recovery of one gold ingot of 24K purity weighing 710 grams and one gold chain of 24k purity weighing 90 grams found concealed in his undergarments. Total, 800 grams of gold valued at 42.95 Lakhs was recovered and seized under the Customs Act, 1962.

 

In another incident, Chennai Air Customs officers intercepted one male Indian passenger who arrived from Colombo via Flight No. AI-274 on 16.05.2023. On search of his person, two bundles of gold in rubbery paste form were found concealed in his body resulting in recovery of one gold ingot of 24K purity weighing 388 grams valued at 20.83 Lakhs was recovered and seized under the Customs Act, 1962.

 

In another incident, Chennai Air Customs officers intercepted one male Indian passenger who arrived from Dubai via flight No. EK-542 on 16.05.2023. On search of his person, two bundles of gold in rubbery paste form were found concealed in his body which resulted in recovery of one gold ingot of 24K purity weighing 527 grams and two gold cut bits of 24k purity weighing 88 grams found concealed in his undergarments. Total, 615 grams of gold valued at 33.02 Lakhs was recovered and seized under the Customs Act, 1962. In total, Gold totally weighing 3.03 kgs valued at 1.61 Crore was recovered and seized under the Customs Act, 1962.

Further investigation is under progress.
