Airports around the world are embarking on comprehensive and seamless digitalisation of airport environment while embracing technological advancements. Insights gained through customer feedback will be used for future plans and priorities to increase airport capacity by enabling faster passenger flow and throughput, enhancing passenger experience and service levels.
The In-Line Hold Baggage Handling System (ILHBS) – an automated system with multiple levels of security screening – allowing for more efficient check-in process. The in-line baggage system, which equips with scanners, is integrated with the airport Baggage Handling System (BHS) to provide a complete hold baggage processing and screening mechanism at the airport. The in-line baggage system will enable passengers to avoid queue up near the X-ray machines for scanning their baggage before check-in. The latest ILHBS uses latest and superior technology installed across major airports in India, including Chennai International Airport.
Baggage Screening/Baggage Screener
Baggage screening is a crucial step in airports that ensures the safety and security in the airport and the flight. During baggage screening the luggage and items being transported are screened and checked for prohibited items. Baggage screeners utilise modern machines, metal detectors, and other equipment to scan luggage for prohibited items such as weapons, auto detection of explosives, and other dangerous materials. Sometimes even wild animals and exotic aves are carried by poachers which are found and penalised by them. They also conduct manual inspections of bags when necessary.
Baggage screeners are especially trained to identify potential threats, and they work closely with airport security personnel and law enforcement agencies to ensure that any suspicious items are identified and handled appropriately.Overall, the role of baggage screening personnel is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of air travel, and they play a vital role in protecting passengers and airport staff from potential threats.
