The 2^nd Agricultural Deputies Meeting of the Agricultural Working Group commenced on 29^thMarch 2023 at Chandigarh. On the second day of the meeting,Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Shri Som Parkash, in his inaugural address highlighted how the recent developments in Indian agriculture have helped the country in achieving food security and nutrition in a sustainable manner. He expressed confidence that the discussions in the ADM will steer towards developing consensus on the way forward for holistic growth of Agriculture sector. Post inaugural session Hon’ble Minister interacted with media representatives. During the press briefing, he further emphasizedthe importance of discussion on the Draft Communiqué and hoped that the deliberations will pave way for agreement on focus areas which include sustainable agriculture, climate smart agriculture, food security and nutrtion, inclusive agricultue value chains and food systems and digitalization for agricultural transformation keeping in mind the spirit of ‘One Earth, One Family and One Future’.

 

 

This was followed by the first General Session, where the invited countries and International Organizations intervened on the working first draft of the Agricultural Working Group. Presentation of Reports of Side events was made by Joint Secretary (G20), DA&FW, Smt. Smita Sirohi. The day continued with three consecutive sessions on collaboratively drafting the Communiqué with the member countries of G20, which witnessed engaging deliberations amongst the delegates on the various points that have been recommended for inclusion over the previous meetings.

The day concluded with the delegates visiting Chandigarh's picturesque Sukhna Lake and having a Gala Dinner on the lake club premises.
