Bureau of Indian Standards is a statutory body functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. It operates various schemes like Product Certification (ISI mark), Management Systems Certification, Hall Marking of Gold and Silver Jewellery/Artefacts and Laboratory Services for the benefit of the industry and in turn aiming at consumer protection.

Bureau of Indian Standards, Chennai Branch Office (CNBO ) has conducted a Jeweller awareness programme today, 22.03.2023 in Puducherry.

Jewellers Association Presidents from Puducherry, Cuddalore, Viluppuram, Panruti, Tindivanam and many Jewellers from these districts attended the awareness programme.

Smt. G. Bhavani, Scientist-E/Director and Head (Chennai Branch Office) welcomed the jewellers and explained the programme objectives. The technical presentation was made by Shri B.J. Gowththam, Scientist – D/Joint Director .

Participants appreciated the BIS initiative on Jewellers Awareness meet. The Programme ended with vote of thanks.
