As part of its 'Jan Bhagidari' events in the context of India assuming Presidency of G20, Reserve Bank of India - Chennai Regional Office conducted a mega Beach Clean-up Drive. The Drive was held on March 18, at Marina Beach, Chennai, in association with the NGO 'Marpu'.

The Drive was organized in step with India’s G20 theme “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth, One Family, One Future” - re-affirming the value of all forms of life – human, animal, plant and microorganisms, and their interconnectedness. The concept of this Drive also marries the G20 theme with that of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' the national-level campaign by Government of India, aimed at bringing about behavioural changes among people regarding healthy sanitation practices.

The Clean-up Drive was inaugurated by Smt. Uma Sankar, Chief General Manager, RBI-Chennai. Over 100 volunteers enthusiastically partook in the Drive.
