Based on Intelligence, Chennai Air Customs officers intercepted one male passenger who arrived from Dubai by Air India Airlines flight AI906 on 31.01.2023. On search of his person, gold in paste form concealed in the body was found resulting in recovery of gold ingot of 24K purity weighing 510 grams valued at 25.43 Lakhs, which was seized under the Customs Act, 1962.

In another incident, Chennai Air Customs officers intercepted one female passenger who arrived from Singapore by Indigo Airlines flight 6E54 on 31.01.2023. On search of her person/baggage, gold concealed in her hand baggage was found resulting in recovery of gold of 24K purity weighing 550 grams valued at ₹ 27.43 Lakhs, which was seized under the Customs Act, 1962.

In total, gold weighing 1060 grams of 24 K purity, totally valued at 52.86 Lakhs were recovered and seized under the Customs Act, 1962.
