As a tribute to and in the memory of the great Cooperative leader known as the Doyen of the Cooperative Movement and philosopher, the National Institute has been named after him, as Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM). The Institute has been functioning as the apex management training institute for over 50 years, catering to the management development, training, research and consultancy needs of various co-operative organizations, government departments and other National bodies. On 15^th January 2023 the Institute celebrates its 56^th Foundation Day. To commemorate the VAMNICOM foundation day is significant since it is the chance to remind the stake holders about the beginnings of this esteemed institute and the progress of the Institute in all aspects so far.

Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India is a leading Cooperative and Agri Business Management Institute in India. This year VAMNICOM is hosting convocation of its 28th Batch (2020-2022) of the Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Agri Business & Management (PGDM-ABM) on Sunday, 15^th January 2023 at 11.45 am.

The PGDM-ABM course is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. Association of Indian Universities has accorded this course as equivalent to M.B.A. degree.

Shri Gyanesh Kumar,  Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, New Delhi will be the Chief Guest, for the Foundation Day & Annual Convocation 2023 and will deliver the convocation address besides awarding certificates to students of 28^th Batch PGDM-ABM. Shri Ramesh Doraiswami MD, CEO National Bulk Handling Corporation Pvt. Ltd., Shri Arun Raste MD & CEO, National Commodity & Derivative Exchange Ltd. And Shri Annop Kumar,  addl. Chief Secretary, Cooperation Govt. Of Maharashtra will preside over the Foundation Day & Convocation - 2023. The meritorious rank holders of PGDM-ABM 2020-22 (28^th Batch) will be awarded medals. Dr. Hema Yadav, Director VAMNICOM will deliver the welcome address. On this occasion student directory of PGDM and PGDM 30^th year celebration logo will be launched.

Agriculture plays an “absolute” central role and remains in the mainstay of the socio-economy of a developing country. VAMNICOM’s PGDB-ABM program churns out agri business graduates who are well-equipped to contribute to the agriculture sector. The PGDM-ABM (2020-22 batch) students are drawn from different parts of the country. 78.8% students are from core Agriculture background and the rest are from Agro allied / Commerce / Sciences / Technology / Engineering streams etc. Various scholarships are provided to the students. This year all the PGDM-ABM students of VAMNICOM have been placed in reputed organisations viz. NAFED, ADM Agro Industries India Pvt. Ltd., Shriram Bioseed Genetics Ltd., Foundation for Development of Rural Value Chains, UPL Ltd., PI Industries, Vegrow, DCM Shriram Ltd., Kisanwala, Rallis India Ltd., Bayer Crop Sciences Ltd. Viterra (Glencore), and others.
