Based on Intelligence, Chennai Air Customs officers intercepted one male passenger who  arrived from Dubai by Indigo Airlines flight 6E - 66 on 11.01.2023. On search of his person,  gold in paste form concealed in the body was found resulting in recovery of gold ingot of 24K  purity weighing 509 grams valued at ~ 24.88 lakhs, which was seized under the Customs Act,  1962. 

In another incident, Chennai Air Customs officers intercepted one male passenger who  arrived from Dubai by Emirates Airlines flight EK-542 on 11.01.2023. On search of his person,  gold in paste form concealed inside the waist band of his jeans was found resulting in recovery  of gold ingot of 24K purity weighing 348 grams valued at ~ 17.01 lakhs, which was seized 1:111der  the Customs Act, 1962. 

In total, gold worth ~ 41 .89 lakhs was recovered and seized under the Customs Act,  1962. Further investigation is under progress, according to a press release issued by K.P.Jeyakar, Additional Commissioner of Customs, Chennai International Airport.
