Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has stressed the need to augment direct and indirect tax collection

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has emphasised the need to augment direct and indirect tax collection in our country.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while inaugurating the newly constructed Central Revenue Residential Complex at Annanagar in Chennai today at an estimated cost of Rs 560 crore said, "It is gratifying that the financial resources required for the development of our country are getting stronger as a result of the increasing number of regular tax payers.

She said that the officials should pay special attention to ensure that direct and indirect tax collection is done in a perfect manner.

 

She said, “The Central Government is working diligently to meet the needs of government officials and improve their facilities and such measures will give them encouragement and motivation to contribute their best to our country.

The Union Finance Minister said that it is great that this Central Revenue Residential Complex is being inaugurated in the auspicious month of Margazhi, which is important in the Tamil month.

She said that to commemorate the traditional and ancient Tamil Sangam period, every building located here is named after the flowers found in Kurinjipaattu.

Income Tax Department, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, Indirect Taxes & Customs, Chennai have constructed 10 Towers at “Nandavanam” – Central Revenue Quarters, Anna Nagar, Chennai at a cost of Rs 560 crore, especially in view of Group ‘B & Group ‘C’ Officers/Officials. The total units are 532  and 726 for Income Tax Department, Indirect Taxes & Customs respectively. The towers are named after flowers drawing inspiration from Kurunjipaatu, they are named as “KONDRAI”, “KAANTHAL”, “KAANCHI”, “VAAGAI”, “ANICHAM”, “SENBAGAM”, “AKHIL”,” MOUVAL”,” THAMARAI” & “VENGAI”.

 

These newly constructed residential quarters were inaugurated by Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister  Nirmala Sitharaman. In addition to it, a micro forest named “PAIMPOZHIL” inside the Nandavanam campus was also inaugurated by the Union Minister of Finance.

The salient features of the project are as follows:

The towers have been constructed using modern technology ‘TUNNEL FORM’, which is a formwork system that facilitates the casting of walls and slabs in one operation. It not only enhances the accuracy of concrete construction but also helps create efficient load-bearing structures that are known to be earthquake-resistant, it provides an ideal solution to the critical problem of sound transmission. It gives a sound reduction of 50 decibels.

 

Tunnel form technology helps in fast pace construction (Fastest slab repetition), reduction in plinth area (7 percent more carpet-area for same plinth area) by efficient usage of common spaces. The adoption of Tunnel Form has led to reduce the heat load and current consumption. Tunnel Form technology is a Monolithic, plaster-less shutter finish surface. The project has been designed to meet the GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) 4 Star Rating.

In the wake of recent Covid-19 pandemic, latest development in the field of Indoor air quality and ventilation with healthy spaces have been ensured. Building is oriented to harness maximum natural lighting (75 percent dwelling area daylight), designed by sun-path analysis, predominant wind direction. Interactive indoor & outdoor environment for occupants well-being.

 

Sustainable building materials, e.g., Fly ash, AAC blocks, Horizon Green Glass etc. have been used to make it Eco-friendly. Appropriate infrastructure for efficient waste management (100 percent waste water recycle by 2MLD Sewage Treatment Plant, Tower garbage chute collection & segregation system) and energy saving initiatives (35 percent energy savings by LED & BEE 5 star rated electrical fittings and fixtures, Performance glass) within the building in alignment with net zero carbon building space designs have been erected.

 

The project is made compliant with Accessible India Norms by providing Lifts, Surface parking and ramps at entry for dierently abled personnel making barrier free environment.

ix. The towers are fully compliant with National Building Code (NBC) and local bye-laws.

  This project inaugurated by the Union Finance Minister would be a great morale booster for officers and officials of both departments, and this project will meet their housing needs in a pleasant environment in a metropolitan city like Chennai.
