Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics & IT and Shri Basavaraj Bommai, Hon’ble Chief Minister reviewed various railway related developmental projects of Karnataka.

The progress of  Gadag-Wadi, Rayadurg-Tumkur, Ginigera-Raichur,Tumkur-Chitradurga-Davangere, Bagalkot-Kudachi, Kadur-Chikmagalur-Belur, Hassan-Belur, Shivamogga, Ranebennur, Marikuppam-Kuppam, Belgaum-Dharwad and other new railway line projects were reviewed by Shri Bommai and Shri Vaishnaw. Shri Bommai directed the officials concerned that land acquisition be speeded up for new lines which are having high demand/urgency, leading to timely execution of those projects. Shri Bommai and Shri Vaishnaw resolved to constitute a working group of senior officers of Govt of Karnataka and Railways to oversee and coordinate very closely to remove bottlenecks and impart speed to the execution of railway projects taken up on cost-sharing basis. 

Shri Vaishnaw stated that doubling between Hubballi and Bengaluru shall be completed soon enabling running of Vande Bharat Express between the two cities. The KPTCL was asked to complete works augmenting electrification quickly for timely commissioning of electrification and operationalisation of Vande Bharat Express along this route by March 2023.

Earlier in the day, Shri Vaishnaw inspected KIA Halt station and took stock of the train services to the airport. He directed the railway officers to conduct a feasibility study to take up doubling with auto-signalling along Yelahanka – Devanahalli section to enhance the capacity. He also advised officers to take up feasibility study for capacity enhancement of high density railway lines in and around Bengaluru city by means of doubling/tripling/quadrupling so that the growing mass transportation needs of the city can be met, on lines Mumbai suburban, in the future.

Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal Hon’ble MP Kolar S.Muniswamy, South Western Railway General Manager Shri Sanjiv Kishore, Divisional Railway Manager Shri Shyam Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) and Development Commissioner Shri ISN Prasad, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Shri N.Manjunath Prasad, ACS (Infrastructure Development) Shri Gaurav Gupta and other senior officers were present.
