The Union Minister for Commerce and Industry has called upon startup entrepreneurs to continue to engage, partner and share ideas at short intervals in order to achieve the mandate of Vision India@2047. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, the Minister said, "a small group of determined and like-minded people can change the course of history".

Shri Piyush Goyal was addressing the valedictory function of the two-day workshop on Startups and Entrepreneurship: Vision India @2047  which began in Bengaluru yesterday. Expressing satisfaction over the brainstorming sessions over the past two days, the Minister said that this truly demonstrated the Team India spirit.  Outlining the growth of   startup ecosystem, Shri Goyal stressed the need to ignite a competitive spirit among different States and startups. Hailing Karnataka's growth and progress in startup ventures,  Shri Goyal shared the view that if Bengaluru went on at the present speed, it would replace Mumbai as the financial capital.

The Minister underlined the need for a second round of incubators being encouraged for startups. He suggested that the select  forty plus campuses of specialised learning across the country  can be utilised for this while exploring means for more incubators in future. The  Government will come out with a database of startup incubators so that even  people also can start choosing, the Minister added.

Shri Piyush Goyal said that  a Startup-20 initiative would be launched  during  India's presidency of the  G20.

The two-day workshop had detailed deliberations on different aspects of Startups and their contribution to economic growth of the country.
Leading entrepreneurs  took part in  sessions on Innovation for Sustainable Development, Building Gender-sensitive Startup Culture and Technology as an Enabler for Inclusive Innovation held today.  The Minister gave away  Startups Awards on the occasion.

The Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal & Mines Shri Prahlad Joshi,   Shri Anurag Jain, Secretary and Smt. Shruti Singh, Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce  interacted with the participants.

Shri Piyush Goyal who arrived in Bengaluru yesterday on a two-day visit will leave this evening.
