The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India has launched a nation-wide campaign for promotion of Digital Life Certificate for Central Government pensioners. The Face Authentication Technology was launched in by Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Hon’ble Minister of State (PP) of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. All the registered Pensioners Associations, Pension Disbursing Banks, Ministries of Government of India and CGHS Centres had been directed to promote the Digital Life Certificate/Face Authentication Technique for giving Life Certificate by organizing special camps for ‘Ease of Living’ of pensioners. 

Total Digital Life Certificate submitted as on 13/11/2022 are as under:-

Total DLC – 47,66,735

Total DLC through Face Authentication – 2,62,686

Total DLC Central GOV – 18,18,289

 DLC of Central GOV through Face Authentication – 1,61,158

In this episode, a central government team of Shri. S Chakrabarti, Under Secretary & Shri. Deepak Pundir, Personal Secretary from Deptt. Of Pension & Pensioner’s Welfare was in Madurai for organizing a Camp in collaboration with State Bank of India and Pensioner’s Association, Madurai for the pensioners of the Central Government and others on 14 November 2022 at the State Bank of India, Administrative Office, Madhuram Complex, Dr. Ambedkar Road, Madurai- 625002.

The event was inaugurated and attended by Shri. Anand H, DGM (B & O), SBI, Madurai Module and Smt. Harine V, RM, SBI, RBO-Madurai City, Lieutenant, S Sugumar, Shri. V S Rajagopal, Ex Hav K Natarajan, office bearers from Tamil Nadu Ex-Services League and Shri. Noushad, Project Manager-UIDAI.

The Digital Life Certificate awareness camp was attended by a large number of Pensioners Specially Defence Pensioners from Madurai and adjoining areas.

The pensioners participated in the campaign enthusiastically which can be gauged from the fact that a 94 yrs old Pensioner, Sh. P.N. Muthaiah and Differently abled Pensioners, Hav. Kannan & Sub. K Muthirulan also turned up for submitting their life certificates through Face Authentication. They expressed their pleasure and satisfaction with the introduction of this new technology. These pensioners were guided by the Department and Bank officials on how to download the Face Authentication Jeevan Pramaan App in their mobile phones and give Life Certificate from their phones.  The Life Certificate is generated within 60 seconds and a link sent on the mobile phone from where the same can be downloaded. This is a milestone leap into the Digital world taken by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, Government of India.  Representative from Department of Pension and PW explained that earlier, to give Life Certificate in physical form, the aged pensioners had to queue up for hours outside banks.  Now, the same has been made possible at the click of a button from the comfort of their home.

The participation of all stakeholders was invaluable for the success of the campaign. The Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare thanked all representatives for their efforts during the event.

In the process of submission of Life Certificate through Face Authentication by mobile, details regarding Aadhar Number, Mobile Number for OTP, PPO Number, Account Number with Bank/Post Office are required for the first time. This facility is also available for State Government Employees and having Disbursing Authority as Treasury Office of the State.

The department is running the campaign throughout the month of November to submit Digital Life Certificate through face authentication.

The central team has requested all the  pensioners to visit the official youtube channel of the department – DOPPW_INDIA OFFICIAL where two videos in Hindi and English have been uploaded explaining the process of submitting the Life Certificate through Face Authentication Technique in simple language.
