Border Security Force (BSF) today inaugurated a bamboo bridge over a stream to connect Huroi village in East Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya. Continuing its yeoman services in the interior parts of the State, BSF constructed this bridge to help locals of the village commute to the other parts.
Following the concerns faced by the villagers of Huroi in traveling to the nearby areas for various purposes, BSF, in collaboration with the civil administration, constructed a bamboo bridge in an effort to help ease life here.
Today Shri Sandeep Rawat, DIG, SHQ BSF Jowai, and Shri Abhilash Barnwal, IAS, DC East Jaintia Hills jointly inaugurated the bamboo bridge in presence of Shri Sanjay Sharma, Commandant, 172 Bn BSF.
Locals appreciated the initiative and have requested the construction of similar types of bridges on the other streams as well.
BSF intends to rope in business houses for funding such projects under CSR and has suggested various projects for the upliftment of the bordering populace to these business houses.
