The Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal & Mines Shri Prahlad Joshi  has said that Karnataka has made remarkable headway in the implementation of various Centrally-sponsored schemes. Karnataka is the biggest beneficiary of Sagarmala project. The industry-friendly eco-system created in the State will certainly attract potential investors to start business ventures in the State, the Minister said while addressing the Global Investors' Meet "Invest Karnataka 2022" in Bengaluru today.

The Minister announced  that as part of  liberalisation  of   grant of license to coal mines a major chunk of mines would be auctioned from tomorrow.  He noted that coal mines contributed 2.5 per cent to national GDP.

Earlier, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually  inaugurated the  three-day Global Investor's Meet being held at the Bangalore Palace in Bengaluru. The summit
is aimed at attracting prospective investors and setting up development agenda for the next decade. The  programme will have  more than 80 speaker sessions.  Top industry leaders including Kumar Mangalam Birla, Sajjan Jindal, Vikram Kirloskar are  participating.

The Karnataka Governor Shri Thaawat Chand Gehlot, Chief Minister Basavaraj S. Bommai, Union Ministers Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman,   Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Shri Piyush Goyal Karnataka Minister for Large & Medium Scale Industries Dr. Murugesh Nirani and the State   Ministers Shri N. Nagaraj and Dr. C N Ashwath Narayana were among those present.

A number of business exhibitions with more than three hundred exhibitors  and country sessions will run parallelly. The country sessions would be hosted by partner countries  like France, Germany, Netherlands, South Korea, Japan, and Australia. The global scale of the event will give Karnataka an opportunity to showcase its culture to the world. "Build for the World" is the theme of the Meet.
