Regional Level NCSC 2022 at KV IIT Chennai

The Chennai Regional Level 30 th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC)-2022, themed “Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-being” was hosted by Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT Chennai on 28th and 29th October 2022.

The Inaugural ceremony began with the formal lighting of the lamp. Dr. M. Manickasamy, Principal, KV IIT, Regional Academic Coordinator, NCSC welcomed the gathering and explained how NCSC kindles the curiosity of the young minds and stretches their imagination. The Chief Guest Prof. Prathap Haridoss, Chairman, VMC, KV IIT Chennai and Dean, Academics, IITM in his address shared his personal experiences with NCSC and extended his appreciation and wishes for the participants. The Guest of Honour, Shri. P I T Raja, Asst. Commissioner, KVS RO, Chennai encouraged the budding scientists from various KVs and gave his appreciation for a participant, who was a Special child and asked the Guide teachers to bring out the student’s fullest potential.

Students qualified from 6 clusters of KVS Chennai region presented 115 projects on various sub-themes: Know your ecosystem, Fostering health, nutrition and well-being, Social and cultural practices for ecosystem and health, Ecosystem based approach for self-reliance and Technological innovation for ecosystem and health, under two different categories Juniors (10 to less than 14) and Seniors (14 to less than 17). The projects were evaluated by a panel of judges.

Prof. Shiva Nagendra S M, Department of Civil Engineering and Vice-Chairman, GATE & JAM, IITM in his valedictory address, motivated and counseled the students to build up a career in the premiere institutions of our country. Being the founder President of the Air Quality Management Association (AQMA), he threw light on air quality management. Dr. Thilli and Prof. Ganapathi Subramanian, Judges in the Panel were also present and were very much enthralled at the way students have done their projects of high level.

Mrs. Smith, PGT, Physics announced the much-awaited results. Top 20 projects, 8 from Juniors and 12 from Seniors were selected for the National level NCSC scheduled at Bangalore in November. All the participants were awarded with Certificates.
