Pondicherry University inks MOU with Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), London

The Department of Commerce, School of Management Pondicherry University has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with  Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) London on 10.10.2022 as per the directions of University Vice-Chancellor Prof.Gurmeet Singh on Learning and development initiatives by providing learning resources, establishing academic collaboration, joint research, and supporting training and development of students.

The Director of Studies, Pondicherry University Prof. K. Tharanikkarasu has briefed the purpose of MOU signing and the specific areas of cooperation. He has highlighted the need for designing an integrated curriculum with the ACCA academic programme to meet the NEP requirements. This would strengthen the collaboration and would benefit both the institutions. The Registrar Prof..AmareshSamantaraya emphasised the importance of having collaborations with prominent global professional accounting body ACCA, which has an unparalleled global presence creating a win – win situation for the partnering Institutions.

Khush Ahuja, Head of Business Development – India, ACCA, emphasized the need for bringing synergy in the curriculum of both the bodies in order to meet the requirements of global employers. He has highlighted the huge gap between the demand and supply of professional accountants in the global scenario and also the changing role of professional accountants in the digitalized environment.

Mr. Saravana Kumar, the Head, ACCA South India, has highlighted the advantages of pursuing ACCA in a collaborative mode and the quality enhancement practices in the curriculum.  Prof. A. Subramanyam Raju Dean, International Relations gave a welcome note.   The Finance Officer, Dean of School of Management, Dean of Research, The Librarian and the IQAC coordinator shared their ideas and facilitated.  Dr. P. Natarajan, Head of Department of Commerce, delivered vote of thanks and narrated the uniqueness of this academic collaboration and how it will be a great opportunity to the student’s community. He has highlighted the possibilities of exploring collaborative research potentials, training and development in the field of accounting and finance.
