1-day Buyer & Seller Training Program for 18 District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Unions and 18 District Central Cooperative Banks is being organized at IRMA

A 1-day Buyer & Seller Training Program for 18 District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Unions and 18 District Central Cooperative Banks is being organized by AMUL, National Cooperative Union of India [NCUI] and Government eMarketplace [GeM] at the Institute for Rural Management Anand [IRMA] from 07-08th Oct 2022. Procurement officers from 18 District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Unions federated under Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited [GCMMF], Anand, and representatives from Gujarat State Cooperative Bank and 18 District Central Cooperative Banks’ [DCCB] from Gujarat are participating in the training session.

The Training program was inaugurated by Shri Atul Kumar Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer, AMUL along with Smt. Sandhya Kapoor, Director-NCUI, Shri Sanjay Khanna, Deputy Director, NCUI, Shri Anurag Awasthi, Chief Manager, Social Inclusion, Inclusive Seller Growth and State Nodal Officer for Gujarat, and Shri Sagar Soni, GeM State Business Facilitator. AMUL successfully placed its first order to herald its procurement journey on the GeM portal.

On 09th August, 2022,  Hon’ble Union Minister for Cooperation and Home, Shri Amit Shah had launched the onboarding of Cooperative Societies as buyers on GeM portal and also encouraged their participation as sellers. GeM and NCUI have worked with Govt of Gujarat and AMUL to ensure the complete onboarding of all the eligible [more than 100 crore turnover/ deposits and ‘A’ audit rating – wherever applicable] Cooperative Societies from Gujarat in Phase 1.

The 2-day session will provide introduction to GeM portal, and training on roles and functionalities related to GeM Buyer [registration & account, modes of procurement for products and services, order processing and payment] & Seller [registration & account, catalogue management, bid/ RA participation, order acceptance, invoice generation, and order fulfilment] modules, including vendor assessment through Quality Council of India QCI], revenue policy and incident management.

Key benefits for buyers on GeM, include; end-to-end system from Buyer Registration to Payment, transparency and ease of buying, options for search, compare, select and buy facility, rich listing of products for individual categories of Goods and Services, price trend for products, up-to-date user-friendly dashboard for buying, monitoring supplies and payments, order processes re-designed for ease of use, option to provide multiple consignee locations and quantity after authentication, and bunching for products and services.

For sellers and service providers, key benefits include; direct access to all Govt departments, one-stop shop for bids / reverse auction on products / services, dynamic pricing: price can be changed based on market conditions, strong vendor rating system, new product suggestion facility available to sellers, seller-friendly dashboard for selling, and monitoring of supplies and payments, news and event section for regular updates, and section for “New on GeM” which shows the list of new product categories added

The objective of the training session is to encourage and assist Cooperative Societies with their buyer and seller registration to reap the benefits of competitive pricing of goods and services, and ensure online access to public procurement markets through the GeM portal.

About Government e Marketplace [GeM]

GeM is a Section 8 company setup under the administrative control of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, for procurement of goods and services by Central Ministries, State Departments, PSEs, Cooperative Societies, Panchayats and Autonomous Bodies.

As of 07th Oct 2022, 62,970 Govt buyers and 52,06,123 sellers and service providers are registered on GeM portal. Further, 55,69,854 products are listed in 10,543 product categories and 280+ service categories are available for service providers. Lastly, 11,680,845 orders worth INR 3,08, 809 Crore in Gross Merchandise Value [GMV] have been fulfilled on the portal.

Further, 8.10 lakh+ micro, small enterprises [MSE] comprising of 1.37 lakh+ women MSEs and 40K+ SC/ ST MSEs are registered on GeM and have fulfilled orders worth approx. 55.14 percent [%] of the total GMV.
