"True teachers are those who help us think for ourselves," said Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. On September 5, 2022 Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT Chennai observed Teachers' Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of the former Indian President and the revered teacher. Principal Dr. M. Manickasamy, Prof. Prathap Haridoss, Chairman, VMC, KV IIT and Dean, Academic Courses IITM, Ms Lakshmi Akkula and Mr Subodh Srivastava, Alumni garlanded the portrait of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and all the Staff members offered floral tribute.

The alumni who attended the morning Assembly turned nostalgic while sharing their thoughts with the students. Students and teachers swapped their roles and students of Class XII took on the responsibility of teaching as a gratitude to the teachers. The Alumni also took a few sessions for Class XI and promised to extend their support for many more sessions in future. The Principal bestowed his duty charge to the School Pupil Leaders. A skit on 'The Story of the Rainbow' was presented by the teachers to insist that all must live in peace and harmony to flourish. The group song 'Guru Govind dou Kahade' added a positive vibe to the assembly programme.

Students organised a cultural programme to entertain the teachers. Students gave their impression about the day. Students in their response glorified teachers as God. They saluted the teachers for their patient and kind approach and thanked them for the guidance. The cultural programme unfolded with a dance performance followed by a Video presentation. Teachers had fun taking part in the Musical Chair and in the Cake cutting. The Chief Guest in his address emphasized that teaching is one of the noblest professions and the true teachers derive joy in the success of their students.

The Principal appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers of the Vidyalaya for the betterment of the society and compared teachers to ladders, who enable the students to attain their goals. The Alumni hosted a lunch for all the staff members. The day ended with a load of happy memories in the minds of everyone present.
