Union Minister Dr L Murugan to inaugurate exhibition of rare photos on Indian freedom movement at Palayamkottai and to Inaugurate Swaraj serial which is on unsung heroes of Indian Independence struggle in DD Podhigai.

Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Fisheries, Dairy & Animal Husbandry Dr.L.Murugan will inaugurate an exhibition of rare photos on Indian Freedom Movement at Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli District tomorrow (20th August 2022) at 9.45 AM. The 10 days long exhibition from 20th August to 29th August is being arranged by Central Bureau of Communication, Tamil Nadu- Puducherry Regional Office at Palayamkottai Kalyana Mandapam, (Arun’s Mahal) in Palayamkottai as part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations.

Hon'ble Minister will also inaugurate the serial ‘Swaraj’ which is on the unsung heroes of Indian Freedom Movement in DD Podhigai. This serial will be telecast from 20th August 2022 on every Saturday at 8 PM for a period of 75 weeks. The serial would be telecast in the HD format and its repeat telecast would be at 3 PM on Mondays, 4 PM on Wednesdays and 9 AM on Fridays. Life history and the sacrifices of 75 unsung heroes from all over the country would telecast. Brave warriors of Tamil Nadu Poolithevan, Veerapandiya Kattabomman and Velu Nachiyar too are included in the serial.

Member of Parliament Shri S. Gnanadiraviyam, Members of Legislative Assembly Shri M. Abdul Wahab and Shri Nayinar Nagendran, the Mayor of Tirunelveli Shri P.M. Saravanan and other dignitaries will participate in this programme. District Collector Shri V. Vishnu, Tirunelveli Corporation Commissioner Shri
V. Sivakrishnamurthy will be the guests of honour.

Shri S. Venkateshwar, Director General, (South Zone) Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; Shri M. Annadurai, Additional Director General of Press Information Bureau & Central Bureau of Communication (TN, Puducherry and A&N Islands), Shri J. Kamaraj, Director, Central Bureau of Communication, Chennai will participate in the ceremony.

The photo exhibition will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm for public viewing. Various cultural programmes are also being arranged everyday for the public at the venue in the afternoon and evening. There will be a daily quiz competition for college and school going students and prizes will be given to the participants. An Inter- school oratorical competition will also be held on August 25th at 10:00 a.m. The necessary arrangements for the 10 day long programme are made under the supervision of Shri T. Sivakumar, Deputy Director of Puducherry Field Office of Central Bureau of Communication.

Government of India’s Central Bureau of Communication, Tamil Nadu-Puducherry Regional office situated in Chennai has been celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-s the 75th year of Indian Independence, by organising various events for the past 2 years. Exhibitions and seminars are being conducted to create awareness among the young generation about the Indian freedom struggle, important historical incidents and the leaders who were associated with them. Many Exhibitions on rare pictures of India’s freedom Struggle have already been held in most districts of Tamil Nadu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
