The Independence day with reference to the theme of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav was celebrated at IndianOil Bhavan, Chennai with traditional gaiety and cheer. Mr. K Sailendra, Executive Director (Regional Services) IndianOil Southern Region hoisted the national flag in the presence of Mr. V C Asokan, Executive Director & State Head for IndianOil in Tamil Nadu & Puducherry and other senior officials. Mr. K Sailendra received the guard of honor given by contingent of Territorial Army officers and Security Personnel from IndianOil.

Mr. Sailendra encouraged people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence. He also mentioned that our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal. Bringing the flag home collectively as a nation in the 75th year of independence thus becomes symbolic of not only an act of personal connection to the Tiranga but also an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building.

Certificates and prizes were distributed to the meritorious children of the employees in addition to Long Service award for the employees. Various cultural activities and programmes were planned by the employees of IndianOil. The event concluded with distribution of prizes to winners of various competitions and felicitation of security staff, according to a press release issued by  Shri V Vetriselvakumar,  Chief General Manager (Corporate Communications).
