DR AUSAF SAYEED MET TN CHIEF SECRETARY DR. IRAIANBU

Dr AusafSayeed, Secretary (CPV &OIA) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India visited Tamilnadu to discuss with various stakeholders about the issues of Non Resident Indians abroad.  He co-chaired a meeting on July 11, with the Chief Secretary of TamilnaduDr.IraiAnbuin which senior officials from Government of India and Government of Tamilnadu participated. Fruitful discussions were held on issues ranging from Safe and Legal Migration, passport and emigration services, skill development prospects for the youth of Tamil Nadu, curbing of illegal agents in overseas recruitment, issues related to NRIs, FDI from Gulf countries and employment opportunities abroad. Dr AusafSayeedhighlighted that the eMigrate system, an online platform which integrates POE offices,  Passport offices, Indian Missions, Bureau of Immigration and others, regulating overseas employment, is being strengthened by a range of measures to increase its popularity and make it simple and incentivised.  He mentioned that the Ministry of External Affairs making efforts to update and refine various welfare schemes such as PravasiBharatiyaBimaYojana (PBBY), Pre-Departure Orientation Training (PDoT) and Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) and such measures may be brought to the attention of the intended beneficiaries.  Dr.IraiAnbuappraised the visiting delegation about the human resource potential of Tamilnadu and skill training facilities set up by the Government of Tamilnadu at the district level. Particularly he highlighted availability of highly qualified nurses and paramedics’ staff in Tamilnadu who areacclaimed all over the world. The Government of Tamilnadualso sought more assistance in return of mortal remains of Indians who died abroad. Dr AusafSayeed detailed the measures initiated by the Government of India and Indian embassies abroad to expeditious transportation  of mortal remains to India. Particularly he highlighted the scheme which he introduced when he was the Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia in which virtual death certificate was issued by the embassy on the same day of the application.    Separately before this high level meeting, the Dr.AusafSayeedmet the Registered Recruiting Agents, who are licenced to recruit the people for employment abroad. Dr AusafSayeed was accompanied by his delegationmembers Shri.Bramha Kumar, Protector General of Emigrants, Dr.VenkatachalamMurugan, Protector of Emigrants & Head of Branch Secretariat, Chennai and Shri.Sushil Kumar Meena, Under Secretary during his interactions with various stake holders.

 

2. On 12th July 2022, Secretary (Consular Passport Visa & Overseas Indian Affairs) visited Passport Seva Kendra, Saligramam, Chennai and reviewed the functioning of the PSK. He also interacted the Passport applicants and officials there. Later in the day, he had a meeting with the Passport Officers of Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchirapalli and reviewed the functioning of these passport offices. Joint Secretary (PSP) & Chief Passport Officer, MEA Shri Armstrong Changsan, Regional Passport Officer, Chennai Shri S.Koventhan, Regional Passport Officer, Coimbatore Shri Pal Ravindran, Regional Passport Officer, Tiruchirapalli Shri R. Anand and Shri A.Ajoyghoush, Regional Passport Officer, Madurai were present at the meeting.
