Pondicherry University ranked among the top 1,000 universities in the world in the latest QS World University Rankings for the academic year of 2022-2023. The QS World University rankings released the academic year of 2022-2023 edition and Pondicherry University placed in the 801-1000 rank range. A record number of 2462 institutions from about 100 countries participated in this year, of which only 41 Indian Universities and Institutions are able to make an entry into the QS World University Rankings for the academic year of 2022-2023.

The QS World University rankings was based on 8 parameters Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty/Student Ratio, Citations per faculty, International faculty ratio International student ratio, International research network and Employment outcomes. The University scored well in all the above parameters despite the pandemic environment. As per the QS World University Ranking framework, the Citations per Faculty is the strongest indicator for Pondicherry University at the global level, besides research impact and teaching commitment. Pondicherry University is participating in the World University Ranking since 2020 and actively participating in QS Asia University Rankings, QS BRICS University Rankings since 2010.

The Pondicherry University takes part in all other International Rankings like Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, Association of Common Wealth Universities Survey and National Level Rankings like National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), ATAL Innovation Ranking, Outlook-ICARE Ranking with substantial scores.

Expressing happiness on the occasion, Prof Gurmeet Singh appreciated the efforts of the faculty, officers, and staff, besides research scholars and students for their efforts and contribution for this achievement by the University at the global level.
