India can provide smart and affordable health solutions to world: Dr. Bharati Pawar

Addressing the young doctors at the 24th annual convocation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, held at NIMHANS, Dr. Bharati Pawar, Hon’ble Union Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that India can provide smart and affordable health solutions to world.

“Given the competence of Indian medical professionals and service motivation, along with expertise in mass immunization, India can provide smart and affordable solutions to the world. I am sure that on global front, India can be a health solution provider as envisioned by our Prime Minister,” said the Minister.

The 24th annual convocation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka was held on Saturday at NIMHANS campus where Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot, the Governor of Karnataka and the Chancellor of University conferred Gold medals to the awardees and , Dr. Bharati Pawar, Hon’ble Union Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare gave the convocation address.

Dr. Bharati Pawar said that India’s vaccination program under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the largest vaccination programmes when compared to many developed countries. 

“With the start of the national COVID-19 vaccination drive in January 2021 and the campaign like 'Har Ghar Dastak’, We have achieved a landmark of vaccination of 90 per cent of its eligible citizens for first dose and 65 per cent for second doses,” she said.

While congratulating the young doctors in her address,  Dr. Bharati Pawar said, “From now onwards, you will be dealing with most precious creation of God and will have to be at your best, both professionally and as human beings. This is a huge responsibility. I wish you all the success in life, be it your professional life as doctors, researchers or academicians.”

She also appreciated the role played by young doctors in fight against Covid 19 pandemic.

“ I understand very well that all of you have gone through a once-in-the-lifetime experience of fighting COVID during your academic course. It has not only disrupted your academics, but also your social and psychological harmony. But with your resilience and adaptability, You have overcome the challenges and hence, you all deserve an extra measure of congratulations and applause!,” she said.

She also underlined the important roles played by other healthcare professionals including the senior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers, including the committed army of ASHA workers to fight against Covid 19. She appreciated the NIMHANS for playing an instrumental role in areas of mental health and neurosciences.

Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot , Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka and the Chancellor of University, Dr. K. Sudhakar, Minister for Medical Education and Health & Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka and Pro-Chancellor of the University and Dr. M. K. Ramesh, the Vice Chancellor of the University were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.

Highlighting the important health related initiatives taken by Union Government Dr. Bharati Pawar said, “ Our government has launched the landmark  Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission this year. Based on the foundations laid down in the form of Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile (JAM) trinity and other digital initiatives of the government, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will create a seamless online platform through the provision of a wide-range of data, information and infrastructure services for our people availing healthcare facilities.” 

While terming the Health as a nation-building strategy, she said,   

“ The students and scholars who have received degrees, awards, and prizes today are India’s investment capital for building a better future. You are the elite, and the elect, with the talents, skills, and knowledge needed to spearhead improvements throughout India’s health system.”
