HMI organizes SAVE SOIL Mountaineering Expedition on Sikkim Himalayas

To spread the message of ‘Save Soil’ to the extreme height of Sikkim Himalayas, Team Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling along with its trainees organised SAVE SOIL Expedition in Sikkim Himalayas. During the first phase of the expedition, forty five trainees and ten instructors climbed BC Roy Peak (18000 ft) peak on April 21st 2022 and displayed banners of Save Soil campaign along with the Indian National Flag. On April 22, sixty five trainees of Basic Mountaineering Course and fifteen instructors climbed Mt. Rhenok (16,500 ft.) and displayed the Save Soil banners along with the National Flag.


On April 23rd, seventy five trainees and instructors performed seventy five sequences of Surya Namaskar each at a height of 14600 ft at HMI Base Camp in West Sikkim and paid tribute to country’s freedom fighters.
During the above activities and also while enroute on return journey, the team interacted with hundreds of trekkers and local village folks in order to spread the message of Save Soil among the masses.
